if the tileset is really good it may be allowed on nonp2p
i have a tileset on classic, but it is still being produced and also a few tilesets on asteria

Goboom 02-16-2002 09:23 PM

My advice is make one, and then ask stefan and send him shots of it. if he is impressed it may hange his mind.

I have seen an addtiledef command used on calssic already so i am saying yes

Nope, wrong my dear.
The addtiledef and addtiledef2 commands are strictly limited to P2P servers, though letting people download another pics1.png instead of the normal one is allowed.

Why don't they just let free use addtiledef? Addtiledef2 is so much better =/

Well, it's quite simply the case that both of them can be used to both of the same things (Except for animated images in the tileset). Which is simply why neither are available, since there is too small a difference.

in the gnomes cave, it changed certain tiles to this horrible cream colour, and i know for a fact it was an addtiledef command, unless the bank was also tunred to cream!

If they can download another pics1.png then forgive me if i am wrong but THAT IS ADDTILEDEF command

Yes, you're wrong. Proper use of addtiledef can yield multiple tilesets, offering a new pics1.png is only one new tileset.

Tyhm 02-18-2002 09:26 AM

...must be a spillover from another server, I know for a fact those levels are clean. Could be a bad backpal.

Unless someone unauthorized has been giving himself FTP. >_<

Notice he said calssic not classic.
Where is the Script Monkey to answer these questions when we need him? Wait this has to do with non-p2p. Never mind then.;)

Erm dude cloud 9 uses addtiledef and that is for classic.

Tyhm 02-19-2002 03:18 AM

...then by that logic, if someone made a Bomy for Classic, it would also be legal just because?
Silly.
Cloud 9 is being made for Classic, it uses addtiledef, but that does not mean that addtiledef is legal nor that it will be accepted carte blanche, ya goober.

zell12 02-19-2002 03:25 AM

I'd say Classic should be allowed to use Gani's and all the illgal commands, it is a main server, and it draws alot of attention

Tyhm 02-19-2002 10:43 AM

Likewise. But then, as the saying goes, noone would play G2K1. ^_~

Sym2001 02-20-2002 07:52 AM

lol

No doubt! :D

I would feel sorry for the person that had to do all the work, or the poeples.

royce 02-20-2002 09:52 AM

I think it would be alot easier re-scripting the npc server itself jst for classic rather than rescripting and adding serverside to all of the npc's.....Probably true.

I think it'd be a lot more impossible to re-script the NPC-Server then just rescripting all NPCs for serverside compatability.....Certainly true.

Tyhm 02-21-2002 05:13 AM

Just need another Assimilator that adds //#CLIENTSIDE to the beginning of every NPC. Run that once and go from there.

PlazmaX 02-21-2002 05:15 AM

pssst Tyhm go to my thread and answer my question please :D

Why dont you try being patient, its bad enough posting three times in a row begging for people to answer you in that thread but going to other threads and asking for the same help? That's just sad

Well, yes, but if you're not going to use the serverside functions of the NPC Server then what's the point in using it? Besides, a good number of your scripts would no longer work because stuff like playerrupees can't be edited on the clientside.

Very true, some of the features would be good on classic if the move could be easily done, but seeing as how it can not be easily done then is there much point discussing it at this present matter of time?

Many things that you script on a P2P server can also be scripted on a nonP2P server, that is the main challange of scripting i beleive, to take scripts that are P2P and make them NON P2P.

Perhaps i may be the only one that shares this beleif but still it is a huge challange

Tyhm 02-21-2002 08:03 AM

SOME manner of batcher would be needed to turn the Classic levels to NPCServ...but of course, if it happens I have to resign, I know jack about NPCServ and I'm too old to learn. ^_^
