Graal File Size

Iz there any way that I can reduce the size of my graal folder size? I mean its liek 40MG big! Stefan, dont make the download so big...

Will45 02-13-2002 06:07 AM

You can start off by using "don't save webgifs" and don't save your PM's

That should do you a few megabytes

Link188 02-13-2002 06:08 AM

thx

Haha, 40 megs is NOTHING. Mine is 518 megabytes, consisting of 25,724 files in 122 folders!

Yes Graal uses a lot of files. There are a lot of different
images and stuff. Disabling PMs and automapping should
reduce it a little bit, you can also enable
'don't load heads for playerlist' then heads are only
downloaded when you actually see someone in the
game not on the playerlist.

How much space does YOUR graal take up, Stefan?

manton 02-13-2002 09:41 AM

Mine used to be over 400MB, but I cleaned out all of my old levels, and playerworld and it's now only 229MB

Spanko 02-13-2002 06:54 PM

Mine is 43 MB, which is basically the normal Graal files, a few weblevels, a few webgifs and some things I've made.

Lomgren 02-14-2002 09:49 AM

Mine is 263 MB,but that is graal 1.41 and the current version

Neonight 02-14-2002 09:57 AM

:) Before I had to install a new OS, my Graal had about 1GB+ space with stuff on it... lol

He'd probably spot that if he indented

Stefan, it'd be cool if you made a little program that goes through the webgifs and deleted files that didn't exist on the server.

TDK_RC6 02-14-2002 09:42 PM

freddyfox 02-14-2002 09:46 PM

And that doesn't count the folders I've kept older graal versions in.

Not very big, just 38.8MB

All I have is the graal files that come with graal, the webgifs I got form playing graal, 2 levels, and a bunch of screenshots.

i have to format alot x_X

SabreKnot 02-14-2002 11:22 PM

Graal takes up 0 MB on my cpu

Kaimetsu 02-14-2002 11:35 PM

Hmm.

It'd be nice if Graal wasn't made up of so many small images. Maybe if there was some kind of zip thing without the compression, so that all the images could be put into one file with its own index etc. Then there'd be far less wasted space (just look at the difference between the actual data size and the size on disk to see what I mean).

Mosquito 02-15-2002 12:02 AM

mine takes 337.9..

Faheria_LAT1 02-15-2002 12:23 AM

mmmmkay: For you people with like 900+ you must have like movies or other games stored in Graal folder x.X

TDK_RC6 02-15-2002 12:31 AM

o and kai, i probably wouldn't have caught it if i idented anyways :P

They are probably playerworld RC's that have their whole playerworld stored in their graal folder. I never really got started making levels, I learned HOW to script but I'm not creative enough to effectivly use it.

Admins 02-15-2002 01:23 AM

I have ~70 MB now, including all source code and PMs
and stuff

hehe. Mine is <50, I have very little. I have Providence stored in an entirely different folder in my hard drive, so.

Oh, you surely would've. And you still need to indent it!
