Hmmmm......
mabye bomys could walk diagonally!?!?

Psyker 05-05-2001 10:07 AM

They're supposed to be slow on land.

05-05-2001 10:49 AM

i think they may go faster

Look at it this way - a bomy can only walk as fast as their leg span. Check out the image attached (not quite to scale, but it should give you a rough idea).

Notice that the bomy has no noticeable legs. Therefore, its step span is quite short and must take more steps to cover the same amount of distance a human could.

Psyker 05-07-2001 08:34 AM

Yeah, that's a good way to put it. Thanks, WhoopA :)

Rekad 05-09-2001 08:23 AM

lol! that is the greatest drawing I have ever seen!

WhoopA 05-09-2001 09:13 AM

Hey, I took a pen and slapped it together in about 5 minutes. But it's not there to demonstrate artistic ability, it's there to make a comment. It does that quite nicely.

O_o;;;;

Thak2 05-10-2001 04:16 AM

WhoopA both demonstrated his point very well, and proved he is a good artist. Good work!

Rekad 05-10-2001 06:28 AM

hey, IM serious, if I would have drawn it it would be a circle and a stick figger

WhoopA 05-10-2001 02:17 PM

Hey, if I wanted to put a lot of effort into it, it would have come out looking like something from 2050. That was a no effort pic - and I'm glad you think it's great. ^_^

Psyker 05-11-2001 04:11 AM

I'd like to see a real drawing with great effort put into it by WhoopA :)

Rekad 05-11-2001 05:04 AM

YEAH! make it a Draktha bomy and have the human have a really 1337 head and shield on!

WhoopA 05-11-2001 01:20 PM

You want effort pics? You want effort pics? HUH?

Not graal related, but this is my average high-quality pic.

Termina_GP4 05-13-2001 10:58 AM

i stink at drawing, i can only draw stick figures and slipknot logos good

Rekad 05-13-2001 11:30 AM

why are both pictures in Anime style?

Psyker 05-13-2001 11:37 AM

my picture is based off of Suikoden II. Mukumuku :D

Rekad 05-15-2001 03:03 AM

all of american culture is now being base after Japanese culture, while Japanese culture is constantly americanizing while the rest of the world is Americanizing.... I think Japan is gonna take over the world without a military....

Termina_GP4 05-15-2001 07:39 AM

actually, with Mr. Bush in office he would probably sell us to them, (i wanted him to when even though he is a rebublican)

LiquidIce00 05-15-2001 09:28 AM

I dont agree with whoopa on the leg span part.
Moving diagonally doesnt mean it moves faster.
if we had a view of Graal like a helicopter view and rotated the map at about 45ยบ moving up would look diagonal.
Bomy's not moving diagonal is just holding back the best version of bomys.
BUT...
you can also look at it this way,
if the owner is moving diagonal and the bomy is following , it would be covering land faster than moving up/left/down/right,
but that can be fixed by moving 1/2 x,y when moving diagonal then when moving up/left/down/right..

erm.. yah .. confusing =\

WhoopA 05-15-2001 11:33 AM

Actually, I was just commenting on speed in general. Because bomies' legs are so short, it takes them 4-5 steps to cover the same distance a human could with a single step. Moving diagonally didn't factor into that image. In fact, they logically have the same range of moton humans do.

[Edit] And by travelling diagonally you would cover about 70% of the distance you would move if you were travelling directly, say east. Look at a sine table for proof.

Munkey 05-16-2001 09:40 AM

That's a good drawing psyker. I know few people who can draw better than that. One of my good friend's can draw almost photo quality images.

Psyker 05-26-2001 09:18 AM

Really? Cool, thanks for the comment.

One of my friends own me at drawing. :(!

Spunky2000ca 05-29-2001 08:37 AM

bah
I have yet to hear of any species that cant walk diagonally. (in real life or on the net, besides bomys)

habek 05-29-2001 10:43 AM

bomy's diagonal =good

grim_squeaker_x 05-29-2001 05:45 PM

Well as WhoopA said if they'd walk diagonally they shouldn't walk the .4 in the direction they're moving as they do now, they'd have to move somewhat slower when moving diagonally because thier leg size is indeed limited, although it would have to be implemented for humans as well then...

SSmutz 05-30-2001 12:02 AM

Bomys are imaginary creatures. The creator of an imaginary thing, place, person, etc, can do what he wants with his/her creation without worrying about the laws of physics. Consider bird catching, for example. The laws of physics don't apply to all of it, such as how bomys can just float in the air by themselves and need ananchor to get down. It's just another part of the imagination. And in the case of bomys (the imaginary creation), they were created the way they were created, and they do what they do, because Stefan, or whoever it was, (the creator) wanted them to.

evilive 05-30-2001 03:25 AM

Must I bring out the big guns? For both subjects: Art and Bomys.

Diagonal = Good idea. The reason they can't walk diagonal is because that's the way Kyle0654 originally scripted them. And also, Bomys are meant to be slow on land. It's a trade off for the bomy spin and the water stuff.

Art- Unfortunately, I don't have any of my cool-beatthecapoutofpeople-drawings scanned up. If any one remembers Antago Press, my drawings were up there. Maybe I should post some... :D

evilive 05-30-2001 04:35 AM

Ah ha! Here's one!

Psyker 05-30-2001 04:48 AM

Nice! I can't draw drawings like that, only cartoonish/animeish/rpgish type people.

evilive 05-30-2001 05:23 AM

I should post another, shouldn't I?

Psyker 05-30-2001 06:13 AM

I will if you.

evilive 05-30-2001 09:52 AM

Hrm... let's see here...
