Hello. A while ago, I heard that a level editor existed that supports .nw files, and that Toleran recieved one in order to work on an outdoor level.

Well, I've been designing a level that I think would benefit Graal if finished. I haven't actually started creating it, but in order to do so I'll need to be able to manipulate existing Graal 2k1 levels offline. Since there seems to be a level editor that holds those capabilities, would it be possible to send me it via e-mail([email protected])? I'd really appreciate it if you can :)

If you'd like to see a description of the level I plan to make, I'd be glad to send you one.

What's the level do? Why not tell the other 500 people that read these boards... :(

It's not a different editor,
it is just a Graal.exe that can read/write the
newworld level format

Ok, then is there any way I'd be able to edit g2k1 levels offline?

G_yoshi 05-04-2001 03:53 PM

yes.....just set it when opening files to view all files......then look for files with the .nw extension.....

Pago 05-04-2001 07:43 PM

I tried it, didn't work

Nope, sorry. All the .nw files have an additional extension to the file name (.code), and the current level editor can't read that format. :(

you have to save the level using alt+5 when online........then it will work.......there is nothing special about levels with the .nw extension.......its just an extension and nothing more

.code is the cached level data. It is uneditable.

Pago 05-05-2001 04:32 AM

oh, ok. So actually, there's no place where G2k1 levels are saved offline.

That's too bad in a way. Because examing other peoples scripting can help newbies learn. But then again... there would probably be a lot more stealing too. It's a two way street

Personally, I think it would benefit Graal if editable .nw levels could be obtained by getting special permission from an admin. Then, people who are working on specific projects could fit them in to the overworld, as well as maybe adapt an existing g2k1 script (I planned to do both :( )

I learned how to script like that, taking scripts from CGM back when they had the level pack.
