Behold, Oasis character design!
 

Well, it's taken me a few days to get the design the way I want it, but this is the end result.

Note, he is without hair, and any accessories. This is an in game recording. The sprite is actually a naked body, with pants, a head, shoes, shirt and jacket on it. Meaning everything is seperated, for maximum customization. I have only completed the front idle, and front walking view.. I have a rough layout of the side view I'm working on now.

The characters in Oasis will go beyond the normal Graal character. There will no longer be "sethead" "setbody" or any color setting for clothes.

Everything is seperated, so that players could walk into a shop, buy a new jacket, and change it right there. No need for setting your body to 20 different body designs, because you can customize everything the player is wearing. :)

The bodies will come in multiple skin tones, for even more customization. Several of the players weapons and items will be carried on the body:

Sword will go in scabbard hanging around shoulders
Shield will hook over the scabbard
Bags of gold and items can be tied to the belt
Hats and helmets can be worn
Packs and large bags can be worn on the back
Gloves and shoes can be worn on hands and feet

The templates for clothing and accessories are much like the hat templates on 2k1, so they are quite simple to edit and change. (meaning it will be easy to make lots of variety)

Phew.. if the characters have this much detail.. I can't imagine what the gameplay and levels will be like. :D

koni that looks very nice! I'm not really shocked though, I could expect something like this from you ;)

you should make it were the more items (jacket, sword, shield, ect) that you wear or carry on your character, the slower they become, due to weight of course

once you start the server and have the minimal stuff, you go really fast and then as you progress and earn more, you become slower or you might buy a light jacket or something that still lets you be pretty agile

Well the basic clothes won't make a difference, but I already have all the other stuff planned out.. yes, swords, shields, bags, items, and other accessories will weigh you down.. you will go slower, unless you have enough strength to carry it all, then you won't slow down :)

So being strong is something to aim for, as it helps you in many ways. ;)

That will be disabled so it won't work. :)

When you start on the playerworld you select your gender and a skin color. There won't be any way to change them after that. Unless someone is really desperate to change it then an admin can change it for them :) But gender won't be able to be changed since that ties in with a lot of stuff, especially the clothing and things.

Here is an example of how easy it is to make variations.. it took me about 5 minutes total to make a new skin color for the head and body, save them, and change them in graalshop.

The attachment shows the darker skin color I just did.

Skin tones will vary from light white, to about the brown in the attachment. So you can have indian, mexican, white, etc. :)

Oh and here is two character designs.. basically the outfit is the same though just different color.. birdbird designed the guy on the left in about 5 minutes or so, and you can already notice some variation with the characters and all that has changed is the clothing color and head :)

Very nice! There's some good playerworld quality floating around.

Just to let you know beforehand.. I don't even play on other playerworlds so I have no clue what they have on them.. I never seen faherias characters.. but I saw the one in murasamunes in that one post.. and it really has no similarities besides being different then the normal graal character..

edit: oh and I made the basic character design a while ago if some of you can remember the game I was planning on making (pic of the character in my avatar) they are just smaller then the Oasis characters ;)

Uh, first server after a long time with great ideas....
hmmm I hope u are adding something like real RPG to it...
and different quests u can normally find in good games (not the same quest for every person)
or something like monsters u can only beat if u are in a group (teamplay is what really makes me play a game *wub @ DAoC*)

You said Bird designed the character on the left. That one's hair is much better than the one on the right and in your sig. It looks much more natural, and better proportioned.

lol.. well the one on the right is supposed to look messy and more anime style.. the one on the right is actually an elf (if you can notice the pointy ears there) the one on the left is human.. trust me, if I can make the entire body, head, clothes, and accessories, I can design different hair :p

birdbird says he wants to do stuff for my server anyway.. so he will probably be making a bunch of character graphics and stuff :)
