Horrible Editor Bug
Ocassionally, the editor erases the entire level when you press play. Of course, this is easily fixed by saving the level each time, but sometimes you forget. You can tell it's happening when you try to play, then the editor toolbars go all wierd, and then when you press F4 to go back to editor, everything is replaced by that annoying grass tile.
Oh, Stefan, in speaking of that tile, fix it so it fills the level with NORMAL grass tiles, not the wierd tuft-o-grass one when you create a new level. |
Hmmm when exactly does that happen?
Does it actually go in the playing mode? |

Stefan i know this is off topic and all but I need to know when the guild admin will start doing his job and where i send my new heads in to get uploaded?
|
Also please check if the level is possible saved in the
main Graal folder instead of the folder where you tried to add the level (saved but then not found when loading it or so) |

First of all, my job isn't to approve every guild request that isn't submitted. I'm doing my job and to be honest, I think I'm doing very well. I'm not going to explain it 100 times a day so i'll just point you to the thread. http://forums.graal2001.com/forums/s...threadid=21166 |

I think the problem is map caching. If you save a level, it seems to save the levels connected to it based on what they looked like when you loaded them. If you edit level13.graal, then edit level14.graal and close it, then finish editing level13.graal and play it, it overwrites the newer level14.graal with its cached version.
Solution: reload the levels on tab-in, save on tab-out? That way if I add a tree to the edge of level13, then click on the level14 tab, voila, the tree is there. I add a bush around the tree, click back to the level13 tab, there's the bush just past the level edge. |
Ok I have changed the thing to save ALL open levels
when you click on the play button, not only the active level. You will see some improvements in the new graal version that will soon be released. |
Thanks a lot!
Did you add it so I records all changed levels on the current map as well? Because when working with a map you have to save each level wich is easy to forget when you work with it like that. And if you closed Graal with 10 changed levels map the map it would only prompt to save the active one. (I'm talking about connected levels in editor) |
Yes it is handling it in 'sessions', which means it
has a list of levels you have visited, and when you click on save then it saves the current levels plus all modified levels |

i agree with you ;) stefan actualy told me to pm him something, and then he never answered me, then when i send another one asking why he didnt answer, he acts like he never got the first one, when it says he did. |

Did you look into the disappearing weapon NPC bug? Because that is different from the unsaved levels problem. |
Um I think it is the same
(has problems to save it and then loads an empty level) |

no i meant when you have more than one level in the
editor open, both modified, and then press on 'play' |
There should be a "save all" button, and "close all" button on the editor.
Another idea: A cool thing would be to add a projects thing to the editor. That way you could "create project" "open project" When you create a project, it makes a folder where all levels are placed in new folder(named after the project name). ****** *NOTE* ****** These are just ideas and are only posted here because they have to do with the editor and Stefan is viewing this thread a lot. |

I SERIOUSLy hope the fixed version is released soon, this one makes me very mad.
the old one wouldnt let you play without saving, now this one lets you play but deletes everything in the level. so i forget to save and lose my hard work. i spent 2 hours on levels and they were deleted by the damn editor bug. |

See, currently, you edit two levels, play one, and the other one is automatically reloaded - all your changes are lost. Not fun, especially if you're trying to get something to work on both levels, and you lose your train of thought....

but I can see how it would happen. and yes, it would piss me off big time. |
He it probably didn't happen to me because I am
saving stuff all 10 seconds or so, getting power failures and stuff too often (got unplugged from the internet at the office three times today x-x) |
