How to fix the "scam" problem.

For each item being put on the stand there would be a 5-10 second delay before anyone can get the item by saying "buy item x"

Wow that was so hard to think of

I think a better way of fixing it would just be posting on the police site that it's legal ;P
Then people would just have to learn that it isn't a smart idea to say "Buy Item 1" 50000000000000 million times in a second.

you forget, Graal does have idiots, yes sad but true. My suggestion is that every item has a general price range you can sell it for.

gozen 01-16-2002 03:43 AM

yea, lets increase the time so more people can be in the running
more time= more chance to do it :p

I think Silver's idea was great. You shouldn't give in to scamming, it should be fought against in a constructive way by changing scripts, not rules. People don't follow rules, as we all have learned.

Why not remove the item trading NPC and add a trade post at the marketplace or something?

But that would make the other trade posts totally useless. :(

how about when you say buy item # a message pops up saying something like
"Do you want to buy item # for #g?"

Beowulf2 01-16-2002 04:11 AM

or something like the player who's buying must say the amount of the item, and it must match that of the item on sale in order for it to process. Something like "Buy item_1 for 5000."

Good idea Beowulf.

Having it ask if you want to buy something every time is stupid, because then if it's a cheap item, and there is a group of people around, you all bid and it's a race to see who can get through the stupid "want to buy it?" menu first. :p

The time idea is much better and easier to implement.. just have it non buyable for 3-5 seconds when first put up.

The idea about saying "buy item 2 for 50" or whatever, that's okay, but it's more trouble to have to say all that, then just say what you'd normally say, and have to wait 3 seconds.

Oh boy, take the easy way out on the programming side and sacrifice tons of idiots going "BLAHBLAHBLAH SCAMMED ME! I WANT MY MONEY BACK?."
