Account Forever Crashing Bug
There is a bug on Graal that crashes accounts, then when you try to reconnect, it just stalls in the loading screen.
I found out its due to gifs. smoke.gif was giving this error for me. Later I found out some other gifs crash some other people. This has been happening on UN for a few days now. When it first started we had about 50-60 accounts crashed at our Neo Town due to this bug.. Anyone else experiencing any problem like this? ps: Stefan-this is what I was pm'ing you about basically.. |

I've had it a fwe times, although in my case it was usually affiliated with stepping in an invalid link which kept loading for some reason, even after it had actually said "Failed..."
|
Send me the gifs that are the problem

Stefan .. I think its more of a NPC problem .. like tons of people were crashing w/ the smoke.gif (attached)
and then yesterday Menion Leah kept crashing when there was a npc w/o an img and the code in it was like if (playerenters) { enableweapons; } |
Um whats wrong with that image
|
If its in a level , it was crashing many people. Dont know if it still does. I can get Yakuna to try it out lol.
|
Ping timeout, I suppose.
|
Also,
weren't images supposed to be converted to .png for smoother loading? |

and not-copyrighted compression algorithm. Also there is the gif2mng program included in Graal to easily convert the images. |
And SaRiA had all the PW Admins convert over a month ago, and all the level gifs were removed from Classic (the heads, sword and shields, however, refuse to delete...for some insane reason...)
|
hehe they are read-only / not physically there
|
Ho! I had a feeling.
Could you please tell SaRiA where they really ARE then? It's a bit distracting trying to delete that accursed mapleleaf-shield.gif and failing time after time.... |

Use Paint Shop Pro's Batch Convert feature, does them all in like five minutes. Then go back through and gif2mng the ones that are animated. It's not that complicated, and you only have to do it once.

Euh, if I can do it, you can do it. Then if Stefan ever has to take out the gif reading code, you'll be glad your server's prepared.

Honds made a converter from gif to png in
graal levels, but I haven't got time to test it and upload it :/ |

I have tested it.

works nicely, even goes through the scripts also. I like it. :), and stefan, you should make the gif2mng.exe create files with more than 8 letters? i hate havivng to rename files from like
uberco~1.png to ubercoolpeopleinapie.png =\ |
gif2mng does long names perfectly with W2K. I wouldn't mind a batch option though, drag in many files, get many files out....just recur on the parameters...
|
Its more made to be used in combination with
batch commands like ls *.gif | xargs gif2mng (if you have the unix commands port for windows) because that is probably better than to do argument parsing and stuff myself |
*dies*
Well for those of us who don't have the unix port to windows and don't make our own batch files, ie the rest of us, could it be configured to drop in several gifs and spit out several pngs and mngs? I guess it's not that crucial, we don't have to use it THAT often... it already handles ONE gif being dragged in.... |
