Who thinks 2k2 should NOT have money?
I think it shouldn't, because that's what ruined 2k1..everyone cares so much about money, because that's what you need to do anything in that server. 2k2 should not have moeny because the system it has so far (trading items) works really well. The jobs aren't too long, and trading items just works well. Money really shouldn't be added..you should be able to gain stuff by doing a job, where you then took what you got and either
A) turned that into what you want or B) trade that for what you want |
Yes, it should but make it so that money just isnt as important as it was in Graal 2001. Like in the middle of Classic and 2001.
|
ORRRRR HOW ABOUT THIS here's an idea. Instead of having money to buy things like hats and stuff. Have like Jimmy the Panda lover. He asks you to do something. you help jimmy and in return he gives you the panda hat. =)
|
Argh.
Role Playing requires money. How will I tax my citizens? How will my kingdom make income? Explain. -__- |
Its like a star trek system kamuii. People work for you out of the kindness of their heart and if they like you. If they don't like you, you can't expect your citizens to help you. And you do your hardest to do what the people of your country want. Since you live to serve them and they live to serve you. =)

Haha. :D But without money, I cannot buy goods from other Kingdoms, nor can anyone in my employ or the employ of a citizen of mine make money to buy goods. Everything CANNOT work on a bartering system; not in this large a world. |

You give me some weed and ill give you some extasy? :p |
Nah a bartering system can work if made right. You see the lands of the kingdoms should be expanded and hunting made (as suggested) then certain animals could only exist in certain areas. Then the animals could leave pelts or meat. Then the kingdoms could barter with their own unique goods. It could work and would work if made correctly.
|
It should have money. It just shouldn't have a static economy. prices for items should fluctuate up and down all the time.

Lord oh mighty. Wait till you get home, get on 2k2. The islands themselves, each Kingdom has a land almost as big as Graal2001, if not bigger... |

Yes! :D |

because, if you have it constantly changing, you're going to want to try and sell you goods at different places all the time, because you don't really know what the selling/buying price is going to be. it makes you think more. |

Hehe. :D I already know what animals I want in Dustari. Hopefully I'll be allowed to have them there... |
Yes there should. But more than just simply "gralats"; there should be copper, silver, and gold. With copper being worth the least and gold being worth the most. And so much copper = one silver, and so much silver = one gold.
|
Ok no expansion but i still like my bartering system and if there is money i like alkaren's idea. There needs to be some various types of currency.

Well, 2002 is supposed to be a medieval world, and in medieval times there was not one single type of currency. There was copper, silver, and gold. (And other things like trading as such). They want ideas and suggestions for 2002? Just wait until I play on it. I'll give them a ton of ideas. Alkaren = medieval buff/loves anything medieval :D. |

Samurai were around during medieval times. No exact period of time has been set for 2002, just that it is simply a medieval world. Sooner or later, once 2002 is more open I'm sure the shogunate will be given to someone. :) If it isn't I'm going to beat someone with one of my books ;). |
Yea the samurai were around but if we're historically correct. I don't remember the samurai coming in contact with any knights from say england. They fought with samurai from neighboring cities and such.
|
Why am I always worth less then gold :(

True. Sadly, not everything can be historically accurate. Though, I wish it was. :( |

Money wont be used for everything like it is on 2001... it will just be a standard.
When you buy something at a market stand, its just SO much easier to pay with coins or gralat then it is to pay with the requested item. And as Kamuii said, how will kingdom leaders tax their followers? Everyone will see their items as having different values. A currency solves all of these problems. |

Bleh, Faheria and Graal 2002 will be great places to RP |
Just don't have stupid economy items such as hats, and make it so newbies aren't killed by people who have tons of items.
|
The hats are a good thing, as long as there are no pets and stupid jobs..
|
Having different forms of money is just an unecessary complication that doesn't improve anything. Let's do things that have a POINT.

If 2002 gets a new economy, and a fluctuating one, plust some of the ideas talked about, it is going to be great.

Having a Copper/Silver/Gold money system does have a point, it's a great idea and a simple concept. |
It's been done before (think Betrayal at Krondor) but it doesn't help anything. It's pure cosmetic, but completely confusing.
Regarding the time period... Graal is Graal. You know, whatever. This isn't a history. The Samurai kingdom isn't Japan, it's the samurai kingdom. Dustari isn't Germany, it's Dustari kingdom. Let it go how it will. |
*note i have not played G2K2 yet but from what i've gotten this seems to me a good idea.
Okay here's my idea the problem here is money. People with lots of money buy lots of stuff like hats. Why don't you tax people then. Make EVERYTHING taxable. that way if you own LOTS of stuff you need to have Lots of money at all times but when you own like 2 hats you only need a little bit. Also people who have tons of money will have to spend it if they own a lot of goods. |
it depends
if it turns into 2001 which it probably will because of the item hungry players, then ERADICATE THEM AS FAST AS POSSIBLE but if they get bird pets, well,i want one XDXDXDXD |

Also in medieval times quite often people with a different culture were referred to as barbarians. So in fact it's all completely right. Well except perhaps for how the online saw mill works :/ |
I thought of supporting different currencys,
like if someone wants to get gold ore for his hats then you will have to give him gold ore, adds some more trading. But it will probably end in one main currency, because things like hats are harder to handle (you will be slower when having hats in your inventory). Also the player-to-player trading was disabled in the preview (because not fully working yet) |
