Solution: Do not hit your CD drive with anything, including rocks or hammers. If it is in no way damaged, I dunno.

Is it a CD drive with a tray, or one where the CD is inserted without a tray?

omni-m00gle 04-29-2001 10:10 AM

Whenever I hit something, it becomes fixed.

btedji 04-29-2001 10:27 AM

tray

IceHawk 04-29-2001 10:36 AM

You mean the CD ejects itself?

freddyfox 04-29-2001 10:37 AM

Tip: Uninstall nascar racer because it just plain stinks. Your machine is rejecting the crappy program by spitting out the CD. You know, how a baby spits out yucky food.

I wish my computer would reject crap programs.

DirectX8 is totally screwed up. After installing it I couldn't play NOLF, Counter-Strike (unless i use opengl), and Blade of Darkness.

I tried BoD on my othe rmachine with DX7 (bod REQURIES dx8) and it worked PERFECTLY.

DX8 is bad and Microsoft needs to shape up.

Hehe....
...when I was visiting a relative's house once, they had a computer that had to be hit 2-3 times before it'd detect the drives and boot.

Direct X 7 or above.

Goto www.microsoft.com and search for Direct X and get the latest one.

Dark-Wys 04-29-2001 09:38 PM

I got DirectX 8
What gfx card I need?

How did you fix the comp with dx8 or did you ever fix it?

IceHawk 04-30-2001 01:59 AM

Try getting a recent video card from Nvidia.

If you want the best, then get the GeForce 3, but if you don't want to spend about $800 on it, get a GeForce 2 MX for about $150.

My suggestion:

Uninstall Dx8, and install dx7a.

Do u know if that does work though?
cause i got a voodoo banshee and just cause i uninstall DX8 and reinstall DX7a doesnt mean that it will work

IceHawk 04-30-2001 02:12 AM

VooDoo Banshees are not the best video cards, they probably won't support it.

That's called Percussive Maintenance.
