stefan, i need tips for making an online game.
 

hey everybody, i am making an online game, it will have graphics like earthbound, for the super nintendo.
the plot- you are a kid in a town, you fight alongside your monster, in tournaments, and to destroy evil aliens, and other stuff like that.
problem is i dont know where to start, i know a few people that can do graphics, but none know how to code. i need help finding exactly how to make an online game. please help me.

1.) Raise a few hundred bucks to buy a programing program (C++ Pro 6, Visual Basic 6 Pro, exct)
2.) Buy a learn to program book
3.) Prepare to spend A LOT of time on it

i got c books builder books and everything. VB programs and stuff if you want to use it il send it through the mail or something. Im not using these certain books anymore so u can get it and as in the disk i can copy it and i might have like 3 anyway

You aren't very clear.. do you need help with only the online part, or making the whole game? If you need help making the whole game, I suggest you learn basic programming and then try to get examples of things that you can look at the code and learn from it.. Learning by using the books and things are no good (at least for me)

Most books think you're a complete beginner and go through simple concepts and not what you really want to know. Plus it's much better to see an example in action then to have to make it all yourself for the first time. :)

what do you want. I wouldnt use vb for a game. Ive done it and its not the best. I think it only for 4 directions too but im not really sure. Some of those books actually help lol. Yeah but ive bought those books that show you nothing at all just explain it a little bit so you get comfortable with it. The only thing it had in my old book was i think how to make a web browser.

id rather send it in the mail or something... Unless you would like to wait for hours of dowload time

What visual basic programs do you have? Do you have any C++ ones?

yeah like builder and **** yeah i got it all. Regular C and stuff too. Alot of stuff just tell me what you want =P
