Generating LARGE Images
Backround Information:
Let's say you are on a gmap.... Level_a1, Level_a2, Level_b1, etc etc. If you place an NPC that generates an Image at the top left of Level_a1 and the image is larger than the level size itself, will it: 1. Even show the image at all? 2. Lagging? 3. If you re-log onto the server at Level_a2 where the image is suppose to be showing, will it show it even though the NPC drawing the image is not in that specific level? |
youd be better off with seperating those images into parts and join them with classes so you have better controll, thats also better for the bandwidth since all images wont load at all, but on encounter
like a progressive jpeg just different :) i think its also friendlier to the memory stacks if the pictures not on screen are not loaded |
There is a thread somewhere on here that covers something like this.
I think it goes on to explain how a gmap will handle an NPC, and it is only So far from its origin. 3 levels or so, if I remember correctly. |
