i changed my cisko linksys wag320 to a netgear dgn2200 and my ping went down from 20-25ms to 8-10ms (no idea how)

my point is.......how the **** am i still constantly over 200ms on era?????? i used to have 160-180ping on a 4mb connection and now i have a 20mb connection.

is something even being done to fix the lag issues? the situation should improve year by year with the advancement of technology, not get worst. it's almost 2 years now that era doesn't run on a decent server.

wouldn't implementing player hosts be a good idea in events and especially in spars if the server is so bad?

Yes because someone could just snap their fingers and make that happen. Even if it was possible currently it really wouldn't be a viable option.

What would really be helpful is if you unplugged your Ethernet cable from your cisco router.

For the last ****ing time bandwidth != latency, and server lag usually has very little to do with latency except in extreme cases. The server could be perfect and you might still get 200ms if the network path sucks or you're far enough away. Going from a 5Mb/s to a 20 Mb/s connection could easily result in an extra 20ms latency to some hosts.

That's not to say it's not an issue with the server (but this post will get deleted if I mention what the issue is), but please stop conflating bandwidth and latency.

tell us what the issue is then? i play against/with americans in other games and there iis very little lag

Quantify "very little". I don't know where you live or where the server currently resides, but transatlantic latency is typically ~70 ms, so that's already more than "very little". NY to Dallas is another ~40 ms. Add the crap Graal does on top of that and it looks about right to me. Use mtr or traceroute and you can get a pretty good idea of what's going on.
