Era Lottery

Hey Era,

I would like to introduce the newest business addition, the Era Lottery. The game is easy to play!

Visit the Era Lottery shop above "unstick me", here you can buy a ticket, which is currently on sale for $500. This ticket provides you the opportunity to win $10,000 with ZERO effort.

It's so easy! What makes Era Lottery even better is that, once all tickets are sold, draws are made IMMEDIATELY. So you can keep coming back to win MORE. Enjoy and play responsibly. ;)

Yes, the lottery business will be flexible to host special lotteries - such as on Christmas day. More lottery games are planned for the future.
e: Congrats to Deathbarrier99, the first winner of Era Lottery :)

WillaWonka 12-21-2012 01:32 AM

If there was a max of 50 tickets... i claim to be the first ticket buyer of the lottery ever. Where is my consolation price?

That is false.

Scoper 12-21-2012 06:07 AM

1/80 (default?) chance of winning a $10000 prize
statistically, you win 125 per ticket. Adding in a cost of 500 per ticket, that comes out to an average of -375 per ticket.

ew. Even by normal gambling odds that's a big loss.

shrimps 12-21-2012 06:48 AM

I should stop gambling. I've lost 2.5m on Bet flipping and 500 on this lotto. :(

Players can only buy one ticket per draw. The big benefit is that the odds are high in comparison to the traditional lottery with a guaranteed prize of $10,000. The major bonus here is that winners are drawn when the tickets sell out or the clock reaches 00:00... no more waiting a week.

Lol this is nothing in Era's economy. This is honestly a dumb idea that didn't need to be added.

Honestly it should be like actual lottery tickets, pick some numbers. If nobody wins the jackpot goes higher. 10k is nothing. Either change the whole lottery or hike up the cost per ticket / jackpot

An important aspect which defines this as a business rather than an automated NPC is that it's possible to tweak the settings of the Era Lottery from the back room. The $10,000 prize is currently for testing - once it's proven successful and earns some money into the safe it will be possible to hold special draws which are higher than usual. :)

ilovegirlzz 12-22-2012 02:55 AM

500 a ticket? TF kinda lottery is this? Does this money get pumped back into the economy somehow?

bloodykiller 12-22-2012 03:03 AM

80x500= 40,000, why is the prize only half of that?

Your definition of half is the smart person's definition of a quarter.

No, their doing 20k for the next drawing, so he's correct. :(

Stephen 12-22-2012 03:34 AM

Era Lottery doesn't run on magic - it's necessary to save up money so that larger prizes can be offered in the future. I've already announced the intention to hold a $100,000 lottery.

Era doesn't need any more money pumped into its economy—that's what all the NPC jobs are doing.

Tim_Rocks 12-22-2012 08:24 AM

What do you guys even expect from us, the most I've developed lately was a drinking problem.

shrimps 12-22-2012 08:37 AM

Perfection, we expect perfection man.

trash picking is way OP, nerf the pay or reduce the amount of trash...

shrimps 12-22-2012 04:07 PM

Yes, trash picking brings in way too much money, this is coming from 131 mining level. Trash picking is still better than my mining level. :(
Also hard as hell to keep minerals at a business because nobody mines any more thanks to it.

-Yes, we're doing that whole offtopic thing again.

Nooooooooooooooooo He's correct!!!!! It's been 10k payout for most of it's time around, so I still win.

InfamousPride 12-22-2012 04:56 PM

So you win 20x the amount you put in and have a 1/80 chance of winning. Most real lotteries have millions of times the reward compared to the $1 you put in and about the same in chance of winning. Old lottery is much better at following this.

shrimps 12-22-2012 06:09 PM

Somebody make MEME please. :D
Y U COMPARE REAL LIFE TO GAME!?
This felt like a MEME.

The old lottery is currently at $2000, which under normal circumstances you need to wait a week to win.

Meanwhile, Era Lottery offers $40,000 prizes several times a day - and your odds of winning are better than the old lottery.

Well in the old lottery you could buy more than one ticket, also it's 2k because the new lottery was released. It's been 50k or so easily before. I simply compared to real life because the system in real life works and they make lots of profit so it wouldn't necessarily be pumping any money into the economy.

shrimps 12-22-2012 07:54 PM

Yeah man, California lotto you lose half of what you win to taxes!

InfamousPride 12-22-2012 07:55 PM

It's 40% and thats anywhere you go in the US :)

It's basically a balance of number of tickets vs. payout, and of course ticket price is important. The fewer tickets the quicker the award can be drawn - which also means the ticket price needs to be high in order to cover the reward and set aside additional cash for future lotteries.

Stephen 12-24-2012 08:51 AM

Just over 2 days since launching with a $10,000 draw, Era Lottery has successful awarded a $100,000 prize and is currently offering a $150,000 draw.

The opportunity to multiply your money expense 20x or more is great, especially considering the improved draw times and odds of winning in comparison to the old lottery system.

suicide_p2p_killa 12-24-2012 12:01 PM

This seems like a stupid idea it completely ruins the economy like the gun raffle...
Era is already ruined by betflipping...
I see noobs with 20 hours with 1m+ just annoys the hell outta me.

I am sorry if i offend the person who came up with this but alot of people will agree ( i think).

bloodykiller 12-24-2012 12:13 PM

gambling should be removed from era, it just makes some people really rich and others so poor that they quit

papajchris 12-24-2012 05:45 PM

a whole lotta jealous folks in hurr

WillaWonka 12-24-2012 08:00 PM

I'm sittin hur, with my 600k hat, making sure NO NOOB will ever be able to acquire such BEAUTY.

Yea, when I found out that Era's economy pivots on the hat market I was pretty surprised.

Thugs love them some hats...

papajchris 12-24-2012 09:42 PM

I had to sell my body to alf for a hat

shrimps 12-24-2012 10:00 PM

It's pretty much always been like that since they added limited hat items.
