Metropolis

Hai,
I'm basically buying a server alongside with my mate.
The server will be based sort of like DC universe at this stage.
There will be four main stages for it. First we will need to plan exactly what needs making, next is a beta design of it. Then ironing out the kinks, then release.
The server will be purchased this weekend.
I'm currently looking for a few people who have some spare time and would like to help out on this project.
The first type of people we would need is obviously someone who can GANI.
I myself suck at making GANI's.
We also need someone who is rather decent at graphics.

Server name: Metropolis

Main theme: Sort of like DC universe.

Story line:
You start off in prison. You walk into a room with the warden and he talks about how it's your day for release. And about how you are expected to behave out of town.
You then have the choice to become a villain or police officer.
Villains will have certain skills and police officers will have the advantage of guns.
Villains can attack all people, Police can attack all but if attacking a police officer they lose respect.
Loose enough respect and you'll be thrown in jail. Loosing money and some items. Then when released you will be a villain.

Ideas:
• Cars, Boats.
• Purchasable houses.
• Level system. The higher the level the more items you can buy.

If you are interested at all and would like further information on the server plans please contact me on facebook.

I don't see any benefit of being a police officer. And what happens when people stop choosing police officers because you risk losing everything over killing players? Seems like it would limit PKing

Well I still have some planning to do, police officer will have access to better skills, such as flying. Whereas villains can only fly for very short distances before crashing down/landing.
The plans above are vague and the final results will differ quite a bit.
This is just planning idea's.

So how do players loose money?, I can understand losing money but you didn't say that.

Well iv'e actually planned a system in which you will get tax every hour you're online.
The tax is based off your money, the more money the more tax, there will also be bank accounts, they will provide interest, 0.05% per hour online.
Other ways to lose money will be by purchasing items, the items can also be sold (at a lower proce, 75% of purchase).
The tax will all go into a lottery. Each day it's drawn by a DBNPC and credited into the winners bank.

Good ideas, I don't think these have been done on Graal before, looking forward to seeing it.

Ahh the irony...

I know they have been done before, but only crappy versions of it. I'm thinking of cars you actually park, and will have to drive on the correct side of road.

That would just be annoying, why not try and do something unique? How about you make a car system where you actually sit in the drivers seat, maybe have animations for opening the driver side door and getting into the vehicle. Just a thought.

It's when ideas become so in depth and take forever to implement and once done, you've hardly done anything that is in my opinion the cause that makes people lose steam. My advice would be to get all your base systems done, and then as time progresses and more interest is drawn to the project you can go in depth as to what Tim suggests. Need reassuring? Look at all the other projects that started off with a healthy forum introduction and looked promising but disappeared... I wonder why.

Does the DC Universe even have police officers? I know they have a commissioner.

Gunderak 12-13-2012 03:23 AM

Well not really, it's more heroes vs villains.
But still, cops will be substituting for heroes lol

Looks great :3
