Overall Updates
I think updates should be done to graalonline.com which everyone is aware of, but i think these forums need some to. Security updates are always important and much appreciated as it helps us know our account information is decently safe. These are done occasionally, but i do think the forums are pretty boring.
I mean at least we have a base for community chat but the forums appear old. Presentation is very important especially when acting as an attraction, obviously. We have very dull forums and they can be way better if everything was up to date. A section for iPhone players still doesn't exist? The active forum administrator Darlene doesn't even have permissions to create/edit/delete forums. There's quite a bit sticky (Important) threads that are extremely out of date (Ex: The GDT is long gone as anything 'official'.) A new forum logo or something would be neat, a couple of simple add-ons like a chatbox or something. I think the newest thing to the forums was when blogs was added. I don't really like complaining, but keeping things up to date is important for Graal. |
You know what happens when they decide to change things?
http://www.graalonline.com That happens. I don't care for the chat box idea but I don't trust them to make the forums anymore aesthetically pleasing. I concur with updating information to be more current/relevent though, a task Darlene could certainly accomplish if given those rights. |
Matt, I agree about the logo. Would be neat to see them incorporate the website logo to the forums.
And FP4, I think that would be awesome if Darlene had those rights. Could be very productive. I think the website needs a bit more update. I kinda like the new look, however there seems to be both the old version, and new version that you kinda get lost in when navigating. For example: http://www.graalonline.com/playerworlds/guilds/ http://www.graalonline.com/zone/guilds/ http://www.graalonline.com/kingdoms/guilds/ Could someone PLEASE explain to me why we have multiple url's that do the same thing? Also note the background behind the tree's. I would personally love to see the old layout removed and full implementation of the new site. Not sure if I am a big fan of the multiple colors tho... I guess it could work, I just feel graal is more Green, or Blue then purple tho. |

Agreed that the chat box is a bad idea, but I would like to see the forums updated. There are still a lot of silly things (subforums that need updating/adding, mod approval in some forums for no apparent reason, etc). Unlinking the forums from the accounts database (or at least making it easier to register) also sounds like a pretty good idea since that's keeping a lot of iPhone players away.
Go look at graalians.com and then come look at these forums. One of the two is vastly superior in almost every way. |

Graalians is full of hate- which is one of the reasons I don't support it any more.

Two other forums that share the topic of Graal have much better forum designs.
|
We plan some updates for the website, not sure about the forums.

The community can be immature at times, but I typically don't have a problem with it. Most of the *****ic stuff is easily ignored, and it's understandable because these forums went through the same phase... but these forums had way more hate back when the community was larger and younger. The community from around 2001-3 was some of the most hateful, competitive people ever. Every single playerworld/development thread turned into a huge ****-measuring contest about how better their server/graphics/scripts were and constructive help was typically very rare or completely absent(or ignored because a lot of people had huge egos and only wanted them stroked). Graalians community isn't anything comparable to that.
