DBNPC's Disappeared
 

No one deleted them, nothing changed them, they haven't been touched, but they all disappeared from the list. They are still in the folder npcs/ in the file browser, at least a few are for sure. How am I supposed to get these back? Why the hell did they just delete themselves?

Any chance someone was messing around with the npc text files? This happens a lot and that's usually the cause in my experience.

Sometimes the IDs get messed up. Just change the IDs so that none of them are overlapping by editing the text files in the npcs/ folder. Then restart the NPCserver.

Maybe they just don't like you. D:

There can also be problems if you have deleted the levels where the NPCs are supposed to be in, then re-add the levels and restart the npcserver.

The weird thing is this happened before like 12 months ago or more. No one touched them. Is there no way to restore them without me going and copy and paste everything? That's really annoying to do for the 2nd time since we've been doing this. Also, to add, we had to /npcstart and kill the second the server was back up because nc was messing up, so it can't be because of the levels in the dbnpcs unless that effect has a 2-3 week lag on it.

Well, you shouldn't have to copy and paste anything to fix either of the problems Stefan and I listed above. Open up the file in your npcs/ folder of one of the NPCs that are missing, then open the DBNPCs list in your RC. See if the ID in your text file clashes with any of the IDs in the DBNPCs list.

Alternatively, open up the file in your npcs/ folder of one of the NPCs that are missing and find the level name in the file. Go to RC and type /find levelname and make sure it is on the server. If it is on the server, and you have tried everything else, make sure that your folder configuration is properly configured.

Ha someone else did delete levels, so it was the levels. Appreciate it you guys.

I suggest a single level where you gather all your DB NPCs.

I thought it was that way, but I guess not lol. Put them all in onlinestartlocal.
