You know what really grinds my gears?

When you constantly receive Global PMs from people on Hidden servers, 99% of the time it's someone asking for scripting advise, then at some point while you're typing your reply they reconnect or log onto a different server, therefore they do not receive the PM due to the "Non existing player" error and you cannot locate them via the playerlist due to it being a hidden server.

I'd imagine this wouldn't be particularly difficult to fix, what's even more frustrating is when the person you're replying to happens to log onto the same server you're on right before you click send.

+rep bro, +rep...

I've dealt with this way too many times.

Edit: Nvm, Must spread rep around before giving to ffcmike again :(

In other related PM gear grinding...

I tend to open PMs, forget, and then go to reply and it can lead to three different scenarios:

1. The 'Player isn't online message' error.
2. The PM is sent to the wrong person.
3. The player receives the PM.

I imagine our problems can be fixed by having the PM system verify the online location of the account and correcting the destination/ID before actually passing the PM on.

I bet Elizabeth grinds your gears.

Might be easier for Stefan to have PMs sent to offline players simply await their online return. Would be a nice feature and probably wouldn't require an update for RC.

They already have it done on the iservers so it should be a quick fix to do.

The iPhone servers aren't using the same PM system at all.

Not the same system, but the same concepts that you suggested.

MattKan 12-03-2011 07:22 AM

I wish that PMs didn't disappear as soon as you logged off of a server.

Which doesn't help the speed of the fix.

True, but I was just trying to be positive. :)
