Preparation for free to play.

I'm not sure how others would feel about this so here's the chance to find out, skill scrolls for GK, easy to locate in shops for those that actively buy things they need for alchemy or are just hoping for a good book or ring to appear, perhaps to encourage people into spending money the skill scrolls could be a paid item, limited to the account that buys it so people do not go around being a jack of all trades so quickly by just spawning said scrolls in a shop in one day (since they will not be there anymore) and as a safeguard against someone buying many and raising the price so they may charge other players large ammounts of plats or items to even buy them.

also the concern i have with enchant armors, though they are less common, perhaps a restriction could be placed so that only the person putting the EA's into their armor is the only one that can wear the armor unless it's cleaned, similar to prepared weapons, this would encourage a person to play longer in the attempt to get better items for themselves, and make sure that players do not just powergame through all of it.

Maybe even remake how armor is done, make new scrolls to prepare your armor, then you can add the EA's, or a type of scroll to lower the weight of the armor (plate mail of protection is very heavy) this could add new ways to enjoy the game, since people would then be able to wear the armor they like even if it is uncommon, right now the only armors worth wearing are mith, PMoP, gale and the new Zeus armor, anything else just lowers speed and many people dislike that or just don't even use armor.

Feel free to leave your thought or ideas, maybe Tig will have time for improvements before V6 is released.

Okay, what does this have to do with free to play?

Not to sound like an *******, but things like these aren't good. Limiting the amount of scrolls someone can buy? Account locking items that are EAd by that player? No thanks

I did not mean limit how many skill scrolls a person could buy, just limit the scrolls to the account that is buying them so someone can't just buy the scrolls for other players or buy many copies of the same scrolls to overcharge as a get rich quick method selling to other players. I felt that making the skill scrolls that allow a warrior or barbarian learn praying and how to use magic a cash item there would be one good benefit for the paying customer, while those that do not chose to pay are limited to using only the skill of the class they choose.

The EAs? Just hoping to put a new look onto the old system of find EA's, get high level buddy to make you perfect armor and be on your way, it may be nice to have more +12 items in the game sure, but that would shorten how much someone is playing since they can get many +12 items quickly and may get very sick of only grinding for their level.

I've always thought that you should only be able to handle as many EA's on a piece of armour as you can put on yourself. Much like handling slots on a prepared a weapon so only those who are over level 100 can wear +12 armour, it would push people to go for max for base level more so than it does now.

Wait Graal Kingdoms is turning free to play?

Tricxta 05-07-2011 11:40 AM

It would be nice if it did, I would definitely play graal more lol :)

Cubical 05-07-2011 05:24 PM

Remove AC, it's retarded not being able to even hurt players. Everyone should be able to cause damage.

MajinDragon 05-07-2011 10:50 PM

Only nubs can't cause damage. And only nubs stack AC.

I really do not like this idea. do you realize how much it costs to spawn these said scrolls. if they weren't spawned you would be waiting a lot longer to get the scrolls.

If you lvl your wis, go kill the mushroom lord a lot of times and bless the mags you get... even with trial you can bless mags to +2 gov and get 500 plat each. mass buy spells and scrolls till something cool pops out, and sell the rest you don't need to get your money back, or for a bit of profit. it would ruin what i spent 75% of my time doing on graal. running a shop is what i've done since the beginning... why ruin a good way for trading economy.

You could even learn DoPV recipe and do the same.

My posts seem to have everyone confused now, here's what i'm trying to say as an idea...

Take the skill scrolls (not EAs IWDs and whatever out of shops you use plats for) and make those skills an item you pay real cash for at anytime, just make it so they cannot be traded once they are purchased so people do not buy 10 and sell 9 of them for great ammounts of plats or diamonds to other players.

Maybe stefan could put the spawn rate on EAs and IWDs back to what they originally were and then add in a "can only EA your own armor" type of deal? I want GK to be fun for as many players as possible, imagine new players just starting GK or lots of the older players returning, right now there are not very many EAs to be found and people that do have them place the value at a few ECs just to get one, no new player would have the knowlege to ever get that form of payment and older players would be far too competitive with each other and try to make an already costly scroll even more so by offering two or even three times as much so the other rich people do not get it.

I'm unsure why stefan lowered spawn rate for certain scrolls and rings, and i want to think he did so because there were so few players logging in over a long period of time, but i could also be wrong with thinking that. The only other idea i can think of to make a sort of cash shop for GK is the clothes? Make those a USD item that cannot be bought with the ingame currency.

Actually when I first started GK I was a bit confused on what to do, the tutorial is adequate though and there are alot of friendly people on who help :)

Seeya 05-12-2011 06:22 AM

That's really good to hear :), the FAQ team is very good. We try our best to help new players learn, but alone the tutorial is pretty hard to understand overall. It's got a lot of good quality in the tutorial, it's just a lot of walking for a slow new player to do, and it doesn't have much sense of direction.

that's what makes GK fun though, you choose your own adventure.

If there could be an NPC on Start Island, or something that warns the player about the Start Island guide that Felix made on the wiki that would be really helpful. I occasionally PM's asking for help on the Start Island and I will link them to the guide and they seem to get on with it fairly quickly after that. But I understand that not every new player understands how to send a PM, or where to look for an FAQ. And they might be too intimidated to send a PM to an FAQ for whatever reason.

Another part of the guide, which would help a lot players save some time and money (buying goldkeys eventually) is the explanation of the stat rolls and the multiplier each class gives to those stat roles. Some people get crappy roles with their warrior or whatever and end up starting again, even if they are a decent level already because it would be too expensive to correct their core stats with the price of gold keys.

All in all I just think the guides on the wiki need a bit more publicity around the server.

I don't make money on EA's IWD's. they rarely ever spawn. I make mony on skill scrolls, the three most expensive scrolls i sell are shopping at 5K plat, Ledgermain at 3.5k, and piety at 1k plat. I think that is a great price compared to how much it takes to get these scrolls. I also make money on alchemy scrolls and spells. if i wasn't able to sell these skill scrolls and such there would be no reason to run my shop.

Cubical 05-13-2011 07:22 PM

remove eas and enchanted armor... problem solved

MajinDragon 05-14-2011 12:59 AM

You know what, i'm all for everyone getting completely reset in terms of skills learned from scrolls that are class-based such as scroll of melee weapons or wizardry. And making these inter-class skill scrolls epicly rare in-game. Don't really like the idea of making them usd-purchaseable via the gelat shop but i guess it would be very good business. Most would want to atleast buy one (warrior with prayers / mage with prayers / mage with warrior). I've never liked how easy, pretty much making class choice a gold key thing, it was to be a jack of all trades.

Tricxta 05-14-2011 02:53 AM

gotta love how they offer items you dont really want for real life dollars but not items you would actually desire.
