GS2 Scripting Tutorial
 

Im working on a scripting tutorial, I know I'm not a master but this is for beginners... This is NOT done and will be updated eventually in this thread. If anyone has anothing you want me to add, just comment.

I haven't read through it, but.... please teach indenting as you teach scripting, not after. I never indented my scripts for the first year or so I was scripting in GS2 and it was a pain learning to do it.

edit: It also seems a bit hard to navigate. You would do better formatting it as a form post or wiki article. If you don't have gold I'm sure Felix would be more than happy to transfer it to the Graal Bible for you.

I would wholly recommend learning say Python, Ruby (<3), Javascript, or even Java and then learning the syntax of GS2 afterwards.

Truthfully, I really don't think you should be giving out scripting advice, given the fact that you still are a beginner and your potential to give out bad advice is very high.

Well I learned scripting from the GS2 commands list in the forums, and watching other scripts, changing them (experimenting) and so on :D

Look at other peoples mistakes, learn from them, check the code gallery for examples, ... after a while you know the basics ^^

I have the starts of a (fairly non-standard) GS2 tutorial sitting around somewhere too, but I have more important Graal-related things to do before that, sadly.

Well I went ahead and started adding 'Related Documentation' to the end of nearly every part in my tutorial.

The related documentation consists of forum posts, GS2 + gBible Wiki articles, and links to other people's (I.e: Twinny) tutorials.

Just for the record when I first started to script, you and Twinny's tutorials helped me a lot, so thanks :)
