Rant on player houses and suggestion(s)

RANT:
It's irritating that your house's constitution decrease every day. Even if your a trial/nongold/classic, it still does. This pisses me off sometimes when you have stuff that you need but can't go on there because your not gold.
Suggestions:
-Make storage houses that doesn't decrease.
-If your a trial, make the house stop decreasing until you get gold.
-Make the timer stop when you log out.

By the way, if you disagree with this, you are free to post why.

Not really a rant, more like a suggestion.

Yeah a rant would be a lot more hostile towards the problem.

I feel like permanent storage would only help the server. I've had multiple houses collapse and it's a very big deterrent when considering playing GK again as I know I no longer have any of my items.

cyan3 01-28-2011 10:56 PM

I don't see a problem with the house system. Making houses degrade over time is a gameplay feature to help control the number of houses on an island and also to make people upgrade to repair them. Although the system is really outdated from when it was originally introduced.

How long do the houses last? Permanent storage/houses doesn't sound constructive to a multiplayer environment. Eventually islands will be filled to capacity by players who aren't even active anymore and deter new players from building houses, not to mention the data filling the server but no reason to ever be cleaned out. However, they could possibly be lengthened?

Alternatively for players who want storage to persist while they're away, but don't want to worry about a house upkeep, a bank/storage facility could be employed.

It goes down by around 2% a day.

'Scroll of House Constitution+' - Very costly, makes your house last 4x longer
No reason why they shouldn't degrade, as Felix noted they help to control the number of houses on an island. Permanent storage sounds more like a bank, which we should have, atleast for plat/gems/coins. Trials earning completely protection from their houses degrading is a foolish thought. Houses don't vanish when you log out so neither should the timer, that would also mean houses simply wouldn't disappear when players quit which would lead to the possibility of there being too many on an island.

Yeah, because we all know the population of houses is totally out of control these days.

I know it isn't really relevant now but in the past it was.

Hmmmm, I wonder why that would be... maybe because the houses of inactive players eventually get destroyed. If houses were permanent then it they WOULD be out of control. Also, altering a feature to cater to a relatively low playercount would be pretty dumb, in my opinion. What happens if GK suddenly becomes popular again(lol). I mean ya I know it's not likely, but still... there are other options out there.

Gothika 01-29-2011 12:02 AM

Trial's shouldn't be rewarded by having an invincible house because they don't want to upgrade.

cbk1994 01-29-2011 01:15 AM

I think it would be reasonable to slow the rate at which houses lose constitution.

I, personally, would -never- have a house, if I could just use a bank. A house takes a 4 minute walk to get there, and if you're heavy possibly a 10 minute boat ride. If I could just bank at Bomboria, why EVER have a house?

Make super materials that let you improve the constitution of houses far past the natural maximum. max, 500%.

super materials cost EC + normal materials.

overall, EC shop needs update

fowlplay4 01-29-2011 02:31 AM

Stefan's house still alive?

It's nice to want things.

OasaTor_PK 01-29-2011 06:30 AM

I know how to help this issue.

Stop hording items.

GG?

I've never had a playerhouse, never needed one and I am the biggest badass on GK.

Banks would probably have limited spacing, and perhaps a small fee to deposit(and withdraw?). I dunno, just throwing ideas out there, but permanent houses aren't the way to go.

*cough* poor

I tried making a house once. It took too long to get the materials, and it just wasnt worth it considering I don't play GK much.

I'm sure if the player count somehow went back up and some new twists to the server were added to make it even enjoyable, I'd definitely play and make a house. But in GK's current state, I don't think it is worth it to be a house, let alone pay the rent.

Gothika 01-30-2011 01:32 AM

Over the last 6 years I think I've built about 10 houses on GK. It isn't THAT hard to build one and it isn't hard to keep them well maintained.

Googi 01-31-2011 01:32 AM

It was kind of a pain keeping the houses maintained when I had one on every island, but not too bad. It might be a good idea to make houses decay slower since there isn't an overcrowding problem or anything. Also you should be able to get your items back if your house collapses.
