Extreme Lag. (Unplayable)
Let me give you a little description before I list my computers specifications.
When I play Graal, (even in fullscreen) I am incredibly laggy. Not network laggy like I skip around the screen, but the type of lag that makes me 3x slower then every other player. On my screen players skip around and they move at a normal speed, yet I walk 2-3 tiles per second which shouldn't be the case. It makes it impossible to spar/play events. The only way I can fix this is to set my text size at 1 or 2, instead of the normal 24. Yet, this is incredibly annoying because then I can't see what players are saying (who's on my team if I am in events) and if I am in full screen I have to go out of full screen just to change my text size. It gets really frustrating. Here are my computer specifications: My laptop is an HP Pavilion Entertainment DV6707US laptop. http://i51.tinypic.com/2jd2pp0.png http://i54.tinypic.com/qrjb0n.png http://i54.tinypic.com/2mniw48.png *All drives are up to date. *Running on windows 7 ultimate *lag occurs in both v6 and v5 client. When in the Graal client I disable all effects/weather/etc. I have done everything that I know to prevent this problem but it never works. Here is more additional information: http://i54.tinypic.com/64ozye.png * I have almost all programs disabled while playing. Please.. can you help me fix this problem x.x? |
The plethora of unoptimized scripts on UN would do that, you've also got some other program taking up the other 50% of your CPU.
What I could do: 1. Decrapify (It's got plenty of HP crap still on it) the PC. Google 'Decrapify' 2. Remove Mcafee or Norton (if present), Install Microsoft Security Essentials if necessary. 3. Minimize the number of Startup processes in msconfig (Windows Key + R, msconfig) What I would really do: 1. Download a clean MSDN copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 2. Format + Reinstall with clean copy Update your video drivers as well. Go to Nvidia's site. |

does your computer heat up so much that the fan goes on max speed? im just asking because you got a dv6000 series laptop, like me (people have told me that dv6000 series have similar hardware). ontropic: i'd say that 2gb ram is too little for the newest windows versions (the v-word(ew) & w7) can't say that, reformation wouldn't be worth it since it's the hardware that is the problem in my opinion. |

It looks like to me there's OEM software stealing CPU for no useful reason but we can't really tell what it is because he sorted by Name and not CPU usage. |
My laptop did this as well, and I don't know the reason why. It's score is about 5ish and it was a clean W7 reformat + latest drivers.
This happened on Vista and W7 and many other laptop users report the same problem. |
Happens to me too.

i should test it on my friend's laptop (without him knowing of course, its shameful enough im still playing this game >_>). its a pretty high-end laptop (i5, 5870, etc)
|
Ya... Its just the laptop. Brand new, day out of the box is was laggy as hell. I think its just most laptops (especially crappy ones) they can't handle the "intense graphics" of Graal. lol. or for most other games that is.

Laptops are often having bad graphics drivers out of the box, will be good to find a better one from the manufacturer. You said that you have the latest version already, but I don't know what could cause such slowdown with v6. Could you post your game_console.log?

I blame MSPaint.

PHP Code:
And I updated the driver(s), but would it be helpful to buy a new graphics driver piece of hardware? |

*edit. Didn't improve much. by setting the affinity to 1. |
It lagged so much on Win 7 starter on the iPhone server, high playercount, I had to run Linux instead. Windows just couldn't handle it. x_x
