How to edit a graal clip with Sony Vegas pro 9

1 Attachment(s)
I made this because i'm bored.

If you have tried to edit a graal video in sony vegas, you has possibly got bad quality and failed. You can really try any recorder on graal and get horriable quality. But if you want good quality like:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUzuH0iignU
Then this is your guide.

Your settings should look like the attachment at the bottom.

Next if your computer cant open WMV witch is common
Download
Prism Video Converter
And convert the clip into a AVI.
Now you will have a nice size clip with very SMALL space used.

Now when you upload it in Sony Vegas it should be fine !!

One tip he forgets to mention is INCREASE THE ****ING RESOLUTION.

fowlplay4 12-04-2010 04:35 AM

You should be recording full-size and cropping out video when you're editing or you end up with a video with all the important stuff happening off screen like in your example.

Fulg0reSama 12-04-2010 04:44 AM

Just saying it's more than possible to have full resolution and good quality.

Seeya 12-04-2010 05:04 AM

I like how your gold standard example video is both stretched and pixellated. It's a good way to show people what not to do. Rep ++

Very presuming of you but maybe what if we don't? Maybe we want nice looking videos that aren't stretched like silly putty?

You can easily set your setting to Full Screen.
Easy tutorials on youtube for that.

Fulg0reSama 12-04-2010 06:02 AM

Okay then make an example without it being stretched. Show me you are capable of showing all of the action instead of an unimpressive two minute close-up.

I'd be offended if you had any idea what you were talking about.

"Widescreen" means it has a wide resolution. It does not mean stretched from a square resolution. An example of a proper widescreen Graal video that hasn't been stretched like yours:

Looks like the 'tutor' just got tut'ed on.

Fixed tags so it'll be in non HD.

If you look at both, neither is stretched so would you like to explain why yours is? Why should anyone want to take advice from you..?

No, he is right. Stretching an image to a widescreen format does not make it widescreen. You need to maintain aspect ratio in order for it to be the proper resolution and format.

Yea if you want you can make a thread on how you can make wide screen.

From there you can do whatever little wide screen you want.

You may know that it exists but you don't know the technicalities behind it, and your video backs that up. You claim your video is widescreen, but it's just a standard resolution squashed into a widescreen resolution. It degrades quality and is sucks to look at.

Either way I think I'm done here, I'm not even sure why I bothered. You seem dead set on the idea that you're extremely capable at what you do and that no one else around here has the talent to question you. Carry on.

Nooo.
I just love all your responses then ignoring it.
Because you knoww.. im tired and really don't caree
im also swoll and out of control but besides that.

If you have a nice widescreen setting.
Please post a thread on it.

Your rep bar is red because you're an *******, not because you're a dancer.

This is the most incoherent response I have seen in a long time. Can we introduce you to Era's community? You would fit right in.

Exactly.
Imagine you having a friend ,you both played graal in the 6th grade.
Then he moves and comes back
NOW your both in the 8th grade.
But alls you been doing is playing graal
While thee other has been living life.
Same thing besides the fact im STILL playing graal.

The real accomplishment is that you managed to find someone on Zone to PK with.

Fulg0reSama 12-04-2010 08:20 AM

Alright so far this is an improvement, but you've still made one big mistake... You practically have the entire video on close-up mode. You need to allow everything to be viewable or the interest is gone.

Zexon 12-04-2010 08:27 AM

I feel better....
Now on i will take advice, so i can improve as a video editor.

Not if you know what you're doing!

Graal recorded at 1984 x 1514. Dumped to raw, uncompressed AVI via Fraps on a RAMDisk (File size was about 1.27GB for 40 seconds worth). Frame rate never dipped below 20FPS. Scaled down to 640x480 H.264 for the upload to Youtube. Video is still being processed at the time of this post so only the low quality is available. I would have gone higher with the resolution, but Graal really starts to bug out and show a bunch of blackness when you do that (You see some of it in the video).

Image taken from one of the frames after the H.264 compression:

http://oi55.tinypic.com/j9mtte.jpg

Try to avoid compressing the footage as many times as you can!
