Graal Kingdoms Halloween 2010

http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/7...loween2010.png

Due to the direction we're taking Kingdoms iPhone, for Halloween this year, I felt it was necessary to add a quest to Graal Kingdoms for Halloween.

We've updated the tileset and some of the tree graphics for an autumn/dead feeling.

Outside of the trade building, a strange old ghostly man, Dryden, has appeared and he is fading in and out of existence. He will ask you to do some tasks for him and they all eventually lead to choosing one of his sacred treasures that he cherished.

Good luck to everyone! Feel free to post your results of the holiday in this thread, but please no spoilers!

I can't wait to claim my pumpkin hats.

Packratia 10-31-2010 01:55 PM

Finally got all the stuff together, and it's not being accepted o.O

Gothika 10-31-2010 03:03 PM

Yeah, there seems to be an issue with the 4th task.

Seeya 10-31-2010 05:23 PM

Amazing event though. It's great fun, those new to GK should come try it out. Get a free (probably expensive in the future) item for some fun.

BigBear3 10-31-2010 07:16 PM

Reminds me of the old Christmas quest. Pretty awesome. Can't turn the items in at the end though.

Tigairius 10-31-2010 07:49 PM

4th task should be fixed now.

Gothika 10-31-2010 09:23 PM

Awesome quest, amazing prizes and a lot of fun overall. Thank you Tig. Brings back memories of the New Years quest in 2006.

Getting close to being done, just need to get ectoplasms after I finish tails.

I just wish I had kept items like these, I always had it in the back of my head that I might need them someday. :k Not fun farming.

But then comes the decision of choosing which item.

OasaTor_PK 10-31-2010 10:57 PM

Cool event, I really liked it up until I was told I had to spend a week grinding items in order to complete the quest.

I really hope this isn't the direction you are taking Kingdoms for iPhone, as 90% of the players won't have the patience to do it.

Nice tileset, nice storyline, poor final execution.

I will admit that the final part of the quest was rushed due to lack of time, so I do apologize for this part.

I had a good hour of fun on the previous parts so nicely done on that. I also hear that the prizes are definitely worth it if you have the ability to farm out this ridiculous quest.

My iPhone 4 is on the mail right now, so hopefully I can see some Kingdoms for iPhone soon, you peak my interest with the first 3 steps.

xAndrewx 10-31-2010 11:51 PM

kinda cool but trials cant go in boats to get the tails! :s

No problem with that, they can buy some diamonds pack :D (just joking)
Congrats on the quest thingy.

cyan3 11-01-2010 02:12 AM

It was a great event :)

Deas_Voice 11-01-2010 02:20 AM

the last part of quest was horrible, getting those eyes and hearts took forever, and i still don't have all the hearts.

but the rest was neat :)

xnervNATx 11-01-2010 03:54 AM

the event is great, but i was wondering how new players would be able to get the items in time, im having a hard time finding those items.

imo this event was not in anyway made for everyone, i just heard that you needed to be high level to be able to farm most of the items.

This is very true. Can't kill a wolf, let alone a panther at low levels. Was hoping it'd be more farming etc. In the end, still a good event.

Stop bishing, it's also hard for the high lvls. Most people bought the items from ppl who already had those items.

BigBear3 11-01-2010 04:31 PM

bish

*****ing about what?
NO one can get those items if they just started to play GK, idc if its hard for high level, just get better gear.

your point?

Clockwork 11-01-2010 08:37 PM

Enjoyed the first 3 parts, reached the fourth part, and lol'd when I was expected to collect like 120 things. :(

And the 6 regulars who might actually have the patience ( or items already) enjoy finishing it.

Someone notify the anti-retard team please.
Now stop crying or they'll come and get you.

Why should every event be noob friendly? Bish.
About time that there's a event where the higher lvls on GK actually get rewarded for being a high lvl.
Am also glad there ain't noobs like you running around with the halloween prizes.

Holiday events should always be low level friendly, or in GK's case, low gear friendly. That's the whole point of holiday events, something for everyone to participate in.

Craigus 11-02-2010 12:00 AM

Was really a excellent quest alot of fun, was lucky enough to log on in the morning before anyone had figured it all out and we got to run around digging up the wells! The end as mentioned probably should of been more new player friendly but if this quest is a glimpse of the quality kingdoms iphones will offer i can't wait to see it :)

If you can't make the kids play the same game together, then you might as well seperate and force them to play a different game (segregate the two parties with two different quests made for each party)

Who said that? You? Because there's no rule saying that the point of a holiday event is so everyone can do it. We also held some events in which "low geared" people can participate. Did you log in to check some of those out? What about the nice events that we hold year-round?

I also know several online games that do not follow this philosophy. There are achievements and quests on other games during holidays that require you to be higher level to complete them.

Comparing the game you are speaking of with the achievements and higher levels required to finish the quests should in now way be used as a comparison to Graal Kingdoms.

The game in which you speak has plenty of content to hold the player over, where Graal Kingdoms has come down to players waiting for the content to hold them over.

It's not a rule, no, but I'd say it's pretty logical. And why so defensive? I wasn't dissing the event what so ever, and like the others, found the three first quests to be cool.

You're assuming I'm low geared and angry about not being able to do the fourth one from the sound of things. Don't jump to conclusions, once again, why so defensive?

Of course there is, but that's games with hours and hours of content and hundreds of thousands of players. On Graal Kingdoms you have to appeal to everyone, not a selected group of players (I wouldn't agree with only making content for low geared players either).

Not really trying to be defensive. I only want to make sure you clearly explain yourself before you leave feedback, otherwise it's not helpful.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. By releasing these things and receiving your feedback, I can hopefully provide more enjoyable events and quests for future holidays.

Were the prizes as nice as the halloween events, or did "low geared" people only get more EC in which to feed to the "high geared" for a small amount of diamonds?

then you can host your events for the only 15 players playing that server. :D

seanthien 11-02-2010 07:44 AM

Nice change of pace, for Halloween at least. Although newbies are still neglected, in a way that now they find it difficult to even participate.

StormYs 11-02-2010 10:02 AM

GK in it's whole ain't newb friendly, that's a fact.

So why bother making something now for the noobs if the gameplay itself won't let them stay for some longer time?
That's why I am glad that this years halloween was more for the people that were still playing GK.

Until GK improves the game in it's whole so that new players find GK a fun game to play, until then I don't see the point of having so many newb friendly events.

That kind of thinking is ultimately what put GK in the spot it have been in for quite a while now.

Wrong, there have been many events in GK where new players could enjoy the event.
Good example of this is the Easter event where GK managed to get over 100+ players. What happened after a few weeks? All the players left bringing GK playercount back to a average of 15-20.

The real problem why GK is now like this, is because of GK never being completed. Leaving GK with many problems (still has a lot of problems) which should of been fixed ages ago.
Thus meaning that the high high management, talking about the company that owns graal (not talking about tig or the managers before him), is the one that brought GK to where it is now.

I won't discuss this any further because this will end up as a different thread.

I wasn't talking about events, there have been some nice ones of those. I am talking about the extreme difficulties a new player have with adjusting to GK's gameplay or how there's only two ways for new players to become something:

* Hours and hours and hours of grinding diamonds in haunted house
* Friends
