Sup. Haven't really been much into pixel art lately as I've been distracted a lot. However, got a little bored and started this little thing.
Goal is to 2x the LttP tileset and then remake it. It is not intended(and never will be) to actually be used in Graal. So far all I've done is a tree. I had a hell'a'va hard time with the trunk, and not to mention the tree top itself was very easy. Attachment 51359 More to come, hopefully! |
wouldnt you have to increase the resolution? or are you just trying to refine its detail?

Looks super. I await Graal Classic HD.
|
Wow, that trunk is beautiful.
|
Looks pretty fly, actually...what you should do is "hack" your own lttp rom and release a dusty style one. :)
|
Why not 4x it while you are at it, resolutions are easily higher than two times what lttp was designed for.

4x for pixel art is a huge workload. |
Still not a huge fan of the "leaves", but that trunk's absolutely great.
Good job, again and again :) |
Wow, the trunk of the tree looks amazing.
Keep em' coming. ^^ |
Impressed as always Dusty. Keep it up.

Progress is slower than slow! Every attempt I make ends up with a headache because this isn't quite as easy as I thought. Of course, the original tileset was made and optimized for the limited SNES(doubly limited, given that each tile color palette is halved to better support the large world LttP introduced). Thus shapes and pixel clusters don't exactly given much room for interpretation. Looking deep at them and trying to make anything out of them results in hitting a wall because they don't make a lot of sense.
Anyways: http://i30.tinypic.com/1jso7m.jpg The head is proving to be a bit of a problem as well. Some problems include the hair being, well... pink. Though I doubt I'll change that since I'm not looking to change the looks, just make them look "newer." Also, hat and tunic are different colors, wtf? I don't know if I should keep it like that or make them match. |
Looks good so far. About that hat, you should make it match the tunic, I never knew myself why they made it in a different green tone, a one-tone outfit looks cooler imo.

This general thing here, Dusty, is a fight between visual similarities and interpretations I think And Crow, Angelu made one in secret like 3-4 years ago or so...idk, not completed but he tried |

@ Elk: If we're talking about the same tiles, they were made for, you know, something. Edit: And here's the tileset I believe some people are talking about. Lossy, so nobody will even think about using this anywhere, sorry. |

Gotta go out so I can't finish this right now.
http://i27.tinypic.com/2qbag5e.jpg A little concerned about the noise/contrast, but I'll see how it works out first. http://i25.tinypic.com/23jqqs5.jpg |

I'll admit it's a bit more square but square doesn't necessarily mean bad. I'm trying to keep to the shape as much as possible, but it was a decision I made based on the design I was going with. I ended up rounding it off anyways. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by lost charm.
Noise and busyness seems to be an issue here, and I'm going to try to resolve it. Mostly with the floor, however. I may lessen the detail going on with the table, though. http://i28.tinypic.com/j10r4z.jpg |
