USL (Season 1)
 

~Unholy Sparring League~ 1.0

Starting May 31th, I will begin hosting the USL with the support of UN Staff, starting with a 2 vs 2 tag team division. Open sign up, all are welcome to participate. On Saturday, June 5th the first rounds of the league will be hosted.

You are only allowed one entry with another player. The deadline for entries will be Friday, June 4th: the day before the start.

The dynamic will work like this (depending on the size of the playerpool):

The first rounds will be a regular knockout style tournament. Up until a certain round, players will simply lose if they fail to win their 2/3 match. Teams who reach the certain round will be put into round robin, playing each team in a series to 10 (at 5-5 the match counts as a draw). Beating a team means you gain 1 point, a draw means null, losing means you lose 1 point. The team with the highest amount of points at the end wins.

Rounds will be hosted (though this is subject to change) at any point during the weekend in which both a person able to host and the teams to play are online. Essentially this means that everything works off of the hosters online time. To give a general estimate on what time we'll start, I'll try to show up somewhere between 8pm-9pm EST and on for the duration of the event: let's say we'll start at around 8:30pm EST. (I'm hoping we could get some ET members in to help host since we're using unevent_spar2.nw)

In the result of players not being online during the weekend, depending on which stage of the league, you will either be disqualified (like the first round eliminations) or we will wait for the next weekend for the matches (like during the round robin). However, all matches must be completed within the month: failure to complete all matches results in disqualification (at least, you certainty won't win).

the versing 10 teams thing seems like it wouldn't work. It seems like it would be more trouble than it's worth to get everyone online and keep score.

I thought the tournament was supposed to start today.. What are we supposed to do? I don't know who to spar or if someone has to watch etc.

the winners of saturday's matches were lag_PKer and Kage99. in total we had about 12 teams in which 9 actually competed. second place was LordSquirt and cbk1994* and third place went to mysticX2X & starfire2001

i'm planning to hold the exact same event tomorrow, at the same time (of 8:30 EST) in which i will actually be on time. apparently more teams will be able to show up then, plus the many who join at the last second. i apologize to those who were waiting on me today

I think this failed already. Hiro isn't hosting anything really and I don't get what the point of these tourneys are if you can switch partners and if he doesn't even get on when he says he'll be on.

to explain to anyone who was wondering why things didn't go through on sunday: i left for new jersey for a job, and the suddenness is due to my boss's ineptitude in providing me a proper schedule of things. you have no idea how frustrating your summer can get when someone tells you to show up the next day, two states over, for a job you've been asking about for months

i worked here last year and, like last year, they have this proxy for the campus internet that blocks most everything, including ports for any video games. i am once again unable to go on graal this summer until i get back home ;_;

i really should have just waited until i knew when i was leaving to try and host this thing, but because i told a lot of people it was going to happen next month (june) i tried to go through with it anyways. bad choice

Instead of sulking, why don't you just tell one of those UN higher-ups that you'll be gone for awhile? I'm sure they'll understand.
