Image not showing up
 

I've done ganis for quite some time now, but for some reason when I add a sprite with these images i made into a gani, it wont show up. They are 8 bit png filetype, so I dont know why it wouldnt.

It's probably not locating the file correctly? Try putting everything together in a single folder, or eventually load the image ingame once.

Its all in the same folder. I just made 4 other ganis as well, all in the same folder as well.

It's how you saved the image, it's not indexed correctly. I don't know what you're using to save the image so I can't really help there. Oh and don't use pure white or pure black else they'll be transparent.

so how do i fix that problem with indexing? was using photoshop, but can use mspaint or whatever?

In Photoshop: Image > Mode > Indexed Color > Local (Perceptual), 255 colors

In CS3 thats not there. :/ it stops at Indexed Color.

Ya, so press it and fill in the options, then click ok.

Pressing it does nothing.

No idea how it works for me but doesn't work for you. Perhaps you need to restart Graal Shop, rename the images, etc etc etc. Your original problem was that the image wasn't indexed, and now you know how to index.

Ok you're screwed.

After indexing the image, put it in your Graal folder and delete the file FILENAMECACHE.txt from the Graal folder. FILENAMECACHE.txt is a list of files cached(stored) by Graal. It tells Graal exactly where to find images, so it doesn't have to scan the whole Graal folder every time Graal starts up. Graal's tools also rely on this. If you just drop an image into the folder, Graal never finds it, thus never even knows it's there. Deleting FILENAMECACHE will force Graal to rescan the folder, thus finding your newly added image :)

Alternatively, you can put the image in the same folder as the gani itself, and open up the gani directly(by associating the file type with Graalshop). This will make Graal temporarily cache the whole folder that the gani is found in, meaning it will also find your image. This can only be done if you the images are found in the same folder as the gani. However, I suggest the above method.

And if somehow that doesn't work. Make the image into a gif if it isn't one already. For some reason I've noticed that gifs tend to show up a lot easier than a png for png is a pretty fickle format with graalshop. But from what they've said the indexing is probable if its not showing up.
