Monster drops- simple/practical

I like this idea i was having, since its a posibility to come true.
How about adding some drops to Zombies? Or T-Rexes? Probably an age-old question, but i think theres obvious drops we can give to them.

Zombies-
Skull hat
black skull helmet
(perhaps) Zombie shirt

T-Rexes-
Golden/Crystal edge (verrrry rare)

Anyone got ideas? I'm pretty sure this is something Tig could actually do without Stefans help, and it'd give us a reason to -farm-, which is content in itself.

joel34 05-03-2010 09:57 PM

This.

Again.

James 05-03-2010 10:21 PM

I petitioned Stefan for GK back in the day for monsters to drop rare things to make the grinding somewhat bearable but he never thought it was a good idea. :(

Seeya 05-04-2010 12:32 AM

Tig is in charge now, if we have reasonable drop ideas he may work on something for us... I wish, in honesty, there was like a 1/10000 drop of a RDA or BDA Fragment from all monsters. That'd be incredible.

joel34 05-22-2010 12:47 PM

Yeah that would be neat.

Hmm i'd be in favour of that but they should make them exclusive to dragons if they ever make them.

Also, a very important thing would be to make spawned monsters unable to drop items like these.

Demons:
Demon Shield (0.01%)
Demon Stone (0.005%)
Demon Essence (1%) - 200 needed to craft demon shield, 500 to craft demon stone.

Cyclops:
Sigil of Thunder (0.35%)

Vampire Priest:
Sash of Clarity (1.2%)
Lightning Scepter (0.8%)
Ring of Elrond (1.1%)

Vampire Gaudrian
Gloves of the Bandit (0.8%)
Ring of War (1.1%)

Deas_Voice 05-22-2010 01:32 PM

idea approved. again;

would be cool to have actual drops on GK =)

Gothika 05-22-2010 02:35 PM

They should drop NEW items, not old.

I agree, If monsters were able to drop any sort of equipment or items they would have to be new and not older items.

MajinDragon 05-22-2010 03:29 PM

Who's going to develop new items?

joel34 05-22-2010 03:43 PM

The good GFX Makers.

kia345 05-22-2010 03:52 PM

We don't have many of those

Cubical 05-22-2010 07:14 PM

I have brought this up soo many times before.. it will never happen.

Well the Graphic Submission Thread has loads of cool stuff on there, we can start by using the stuff on there.

BigBear3 05-22-2010 09:16 PM

Most items just need mud images and bull**** stats. I could make you a belt in 3 seconds.

I've made a couple belts/rings and such.

Tig didn't like them. o.o

Although, there are a couple things that I made for gk a long time ago (that were said to be implemented), and still have yet to show.

Go on.

kia345 05-23-2010 12:11 AM

New items seems like a bad idea for drops. We have a terrible track record concerning new items:

Hey guys, Bjorn said we could have more kingdom items!

He's letting Zormite release theirs with the Vateril update!

Flash forward a few months

Tig's taken over and brought back the other kingdom items idea! They're even on debug, with new, unique graphics! We even got rid of Forest, so all the kingdoms have active kings to decide on items!

WHOOPS DROPPED THE BALL ON THAT ONE HUH

We had to take the helmet to UN just to use it.

joel34 05-23-2010 09:33 AM

I dont think 30% of the graphics in the thread have been accepted.

Why not just increase the spawn rate of RoW/RoE in the shops?

Well also viable but the point is just to get some monsters dropping items, i figure both rings aren't harming anyone being a rare drop, your point would be better if we were discussing how to get more row/roe's out into the server. Also it being a drop would make a new way to gain row/roe's other than the current high sapphire investment route which newer players can't afford without becoming 100% merchants & alchemists.

nullify 05-24-2010 09:18 AM

Well considering Tig completely nerfed IWD/EA/EW spawn rates, I doubt he'd increase the spawn rate of anything.

The whole point of that wasn't to get rid of the EA/IWDs themselves, but to try to get rid of the retarded ac/wc system. There was no +s.

Conqueror 05-24-2010 03:34 PM

Whenever the idea of rare items spawning is brought up, the response is usually "it will ruin the economy". Which to me seems ridiculous because there's not much of an economy anymore with older players dying with their items. I think having spawnable items would have a positive effect on GK's economy/playercount.

No newer player could possibly gain any sort of "real" wealth. They could destruction scroll their balls off and come out with 500 dias, and maybe 50 brutals or so. But even those things aren't really desired items in trades anymore. So what can they really do? Spawnable items gives everyone a "chance" atleast.

Even putting some greater items in the EC shop. Some mad crazy items that you'd need to pay 300 ecs for. Other than Gale, that shop is useless.

That failed as well since there was no wipe of previously EA'd armors or prepped (with diamond refunds I'd hope) weapons.

They gave up on the EC shop. It's the perfect place to input new items (gfx submission thread) without needing to add any real content and they haven't even done that.

Supaman771 05-24-2010 10:36 PM

Still waiting to be restored. :D

Cubical 05-24-2010 10:57 PM

Still waiting for a reason to upgrade.

It would've worked after a while. No means of making more +12s, the currently existing ones would eventually be watered down into exclusive, overpowered "artifacts".

Also, LOL REFUNDS, that wouldn't help at all. At the very least, only refund one item, and re-bless the weapons.

The long run is a nice thought, but i think it's a highly unpractical one. For the current +12's to be watered down, more items would need to be created or more and more old ea'd items cleaned (madness). Alchemy can't be the only source of new items since pmop is considered redundant & i can't see fhom carrying the torch alone. The ec shop also can't carry the torch currently. There would have to be new development, and alot of it, to phase out the current and dormant ea'd items. Sure, it's possible in the very far future, but i don't see Graal surviving that long.

kia345 05-25-2010 12:44 AM

The long run is what got GK from the pinnacle of Graal to what it is now. It was the steady acquisition/introduction of stronger items, and numerous top level items becoming commonplace. If you honestly think there's some immediate fix (short of a full reset!), you're wrong.

Why does every GK thread have to tease me with this idea eventually?

I agree, theres no point talking about "the long run" because at the current state GK is in there won't be one.

kia345 05-25-2010 12:52 AM

GK threads in general are a tease.

"wow people actually care about the server!"

"7 people online, 1 is stephen, 1 is kale, 1 is joel"

":("

We have to look farther down the road than the tip of our nose. The next generation will be forced to perform within the guidelines of the mudsystem, which has been hardwired by Stefan.

These guys have the right idea.

Seeya 05-25-2010 08:26 AM

Yeah, at this point, i'd love a reset.
