Poison revision.

I think that poison, instead of stat deduction, should cause constant damage loss.

this would solve PK running, if there running into MMT without scrolls, they'll die.

discuss.

Naa, i think poison should cause stat deduction, the only issue is the potency of the poison. I think poison should be in four levels and it based on physical level (seeing as how poison isn't applied with any levels). Level 1 reduces Str and Dex by -1 and is avaliable to all who have 1-35 phys. Level 2 poison reduces Str and Dex by -2 and Con by -1 and is available to all who have 36-70phys. Level 3 poison reduces Str and Dex by -3 and con by -2 and is available to those who have 71-105phys. Level 4 is available to those who have 107phys and reduces Str, Dex and Con by -3. Damage of Time (DoT) will still apply to all poisons, getting stronger through the levels.
Resistances to poison, such as 99, can render the stat loss from most poisons nullified and reduce the amount of DoT received but won't stop it entirely.

People run because if they aren't holy poss'd or have high poison resist at the time, they are at risk of losing -10str, -10dex, -10con from even a lame first hit off a bow.

That sounds REALLY familiar. I think you seriously stole that idea from somewhere.

We've planned to get poison able to be script-controlled so that I can change it in the future, but right now it's not capable of being changed. Once poison is script-controlled, a poison revision is planned.

Poison should not have a knock-back effect. That's just bananas.

The concept of 'levels of poison' is a fairly basic one. There are dozen's, probably hundreds of games that use it. In all honesty i did not consider any other game when suggesting it, i simply thought of a way i saw fit to controlling poison. And even in my suggestion there poses the problem of resists, and how much they will lessen the effects of the poison.

Poison has always been way too potent. Base stat reductions are too severe.

It sometimes reduces Str, Dex, and Con, which is what everyone uses just to get around and survive, while at the same time, it causes the player to freeze while taking damage.

With 30 Con, Max HP is 540. With 29, Max HP is 490. That's a 50 point difference. It's enormous. At 30 Str, Weight Limit is 4500. With 29, it's about 4000. A single point difference in these areas royally screws people over. Especially when the player is made to freeze and take damage every few seconds as well. When you get the chance, Tig, I would strongly recommend toning it down.

yeah the stat reduction is pretty hefty, but it's the knock back affect that is the ultimate over powering result of poison. that's what makes it so a mage virtually can't cast. if you're poisoned the knock back cancels ur casting and then freezes u for no shorter than the cast time of that spell. ergo poison = death for mages. and poison is only supposed to be helpfull in battle not a deciding factor
