Recommend a player

The ability to recommend Graal to someone, with a promotional subscription. This idea was very sudden, so I don't even know if I like it, or if it makes sense, but it's late so if I don't post it now I'll forget by tomorrow!

The idea is to suggest Graal to a friend, and upon doing so gives them... I dunno, a month of free access. You send out a suggestion via the webpage to an e-mail of a friend. In the e-mail it links them to the site to sign up with a special promotional subscription. They get a free month to try out the game on your recommendation... and I dunno what you get! No free play time though, as that could be easily abused. Do YOU really need a benefit though? In the end more players means better gameplay experience for you. Also, there should be little reason to spam e-mails as possible.

I don't see much point in abusing it as the receiver, as you'd have to make a new account each time. Obviously, one promotion per e-mail.

Lol, could easily be done without benifits with a facebook group.

And we can easily just tell friends to try it out... but then they'd have to play with observer mode! Observer mode sucks. A month(or two weeks, whatever seems fitting) of actual gameplay would be much more appealing to a new player.

Most online games have these offers - recommend a friend, and if they upgrade, both you and that friend get a bonus.

There's an "Invite a Friend" feature on the in-game start bar, but I don't think it's very effective.

Invite a friend and receive Gelats! Just enter your name and the e-mail address of your friend and click on Send. An email will be sent to your friend with a link to our website. You will receive 10% of all Gelats he/she is purchasing.

Yes. If people want to play games with their friends, they're just going to invite them along anyway and it probably would have happened by now. Incentives are pretty much imperative here to actively drive people.

Ziro's idea sounds good... but the reason I said that is because of my lack of an idea of how to compensate players without them just creating e-mails and inviting them. Incentive is good, and I like Ziro's.

Through the "Invite a friend", do you get bonuses on all their purchases. I've seen that before, and I think that would be an even better incentive.

There should be an option to say which server, and some way for said server to be alerted of the referral and hand out their server-specific bonuses to the inviter and invitee.

This is a good idea. There are probably many things that could stimulate the players to attract attention to Graal, possibly setting up a gralats-per-subscription when you advertise a link, be it a banner or text, in your signatures in other forums or on personal websites.

As displayed by iPhone Graal's success, I think it's probably best to revert to advertising and marketing Graal as an actual game aswell.
