I like actually pretty much every type of songs, but my favorite is 80's because the lyrics are so nice and the rythms are great.

I can listen to
80's
Pop
Rock
Power Rock
Some Rap songs

If its so horrible then why are people still listening to it 30 years later?

In my opinion,

rap sucks,

heavy metal sucks,

and newer pop sucks.

Those are basically the genras todays music is made of. I could go into great detail about this but id end up writing ten pages.

They are, any tune that has a rythm, singing, and good guitar playing or instruments of some sort, is a good song.

That's absolutely not true.

Those are some elements that a song may contain, but just because those elements are present does not make it a good song.

Old_Days 12-15-2009 10:02 PM

Your right, it makes it a song.

Thats why rap and heavy metal arent music to me, but a bunch of dumbasses trying to put a bad rhyme to a beat, and another group of dumbasses who like to beat the hell out of their guitar strings and scream like a bunch of animals into the microphone.

Tell me this, if rap and metal and all that other **** is so damn good, then why the hell hasnt it been around for 40+ years?

Hip-hop I also like, because they actually rhyme things better, rap today is a bunch of players talking about their money, their guns, and their hoes.

Then they try to get all politcal which makes them look even more like a bunch of dumbasses because half of those ingrates dont know what the hell they are talking about.

I like Power rock, dont know why...
I was born listening to it, I liked the sound, and the group I love is also neighboour with my country and the singer got a very special voice. :)

But I cant blame people for what they are listening too, as long as they dont argue, then I wouldn't.

Should we go back to topic?

Good_Ol_Daze 12-17-2009 10:15 PM

People like 80's music because they think that liking music that was really popular 20 years ago is less lame than liking music that's really popular now. Nobody cares what kind of music you like guys, you don't have to be ashamed of liking pop music.

p.s. 80's music isn't a genre and you can't just say you "like 80's music"!

Just because you're not looking for different kinds of music doesn't mean they aren't there.

According to my standards, pop music sucks. So does every other type of music out today. I dont need to explain this because everyone knows theres a substantial difference between Old music and New music.

If you cant tell, well thats your problem, maybe you should get your ears checked.

If you say 80s is not a genra but I seriously believe you know what people mean when they say "I like 70s music" mostly because you can already get a good summerization of what genras made up those years. Like for instance, you wouldnt ever find heavy metal, rap, and this ***** pop in that era.

I could argue this to no end but itll just end up as a "my opinion against yours arguement"

Heres my opinion: Today's music sucks. I can gather millions of people who agree with me.

If modern music is so horrible then why does the vast majority of western society listen to it?

"Heavy Metal" isn't at all what "today's" music is made of. As a matter of fact it was more mainstream in the 80's than it is today. Rap is no longer really rap, it's a mix of dance and other subgenres of EDM.

Against All Odds is probably Phil Collins' worst tune in my opinion. Sussudio is where it's at.

I like it though, but we all have our favorites right?

Also, Phil Collins is the singer in the band Genesis. And Genesis made the album Invisible Touch which sold millions of copies, and is on the top 10 list of the most sold album in the world.

Rap and heavy metal both started in the 70's/80's, maybe even earlier. This isn't an opinion.

Mhmmmm, rap was in 90's.

I think you mean HipHop or such started in 70-80's?

Heavy Metal was 80-90's, but Power Rock was in 70's (which is pretty much the same?).

Eh, I'd say Run DMC was a rap group, and they were pretty active in the 80's.

Pretty sure Black Sabbath released their first album in 1970, actually!
