OK we all know I suck at graphics but hey, anyway is the shape overdone? Do I need to scale it back? Just asking..

You say it can be anything I want it to be. Yes, everytime I close my eyes and open them, it doesn't become a pony :(

Yeah, that's the only problem I have with this outline. It's too difficult to tell what it is. It could definitely use a little bit of detailing so we can actually discern what it's supposed to be.

It may be helpful to visualise what kind of object you wish to create, using internet resources for inspiration and influence, rather than just random doodling all the time.

Art doesn't have to be realistic, thats what makes it art.

I'm not suggesting that. It's just when you make a realistic item and show us, it's usually rather crap, so I'm suggesting a way in which you can improve your realistic pixel drawing skills.

Its not a realistic image its not suppose to be, and its just a shape. See the beauty of it one person sees it as a sword, another a staff, another a broom, and what ever you see thats what it is. Thats why its cool, I ask if its over done because sometimes its just too busy.

for real art, i agree with you, it can be abstract, it can be anything you want it to be, but this is a weapon for graal, you have to know what you want to make, what kind of texture you want it to have, glossy, dull, what type of material, if even you don't know that, and you're the one who created it, it will never be as as good when you decide to make a staff, and decide in your head what it looks like.

Okay, fair enough. You can refuse my advice with excuses, like you do with everyone else, but good luck trying to improve.

Why would you ever even TRY to make something without any intent as to what it's supposed to be.. ? Honestly that's just stupid. Using "Its whatever you want it to be" is just an excuse for your lack of knowing what it SHOULD be. :noob:

You can't just draw rubbish and call it art - even some of the most controversial visual pieces of our century have strong abstract concepts behind them.

It's supposed to be a baton, but it's unbalanced and, as a result, looks like nonsense - making sloppy excuses won't fix it. I detest that style of weapon design - it's purely aesthetical, and poorly aesthetical for some irony; weapons are tools of utility.

This piece is in a museum. A person got paid to make this.. so anything is art but just because you don't think it is doesn't mean its not. Thanks.

Yeah, but I seriously doubt that was just thrown together. If it was, people would have picked up on it as soon as they saw it, being professionals in their field. Stephen is a professional graphics designer, I think, and more than likely knows more about these things than you do :/

I don't want to go into discussion of contemporary "higher art" - the majority of it is a big circle jerk. The great thing about history is time weeds out the trash - a luxury we can't yet enjoy with contemporary art.
