Era's Winter Wonderland 2009
 

As the year comes to a close, Era has brought out this year's winter wonderland!


We've brought back the snow, and with that, the snowballs! You can pick them up with a pair of snow mittens, or dig snowballs out of the snow with a shovel.


We've also brought back snowmen!

To make a snowman, drop a snowball on the ground (or dig one up), and roll it 15 times to create the lower part of the snowman. Take another snowball, and roll it 10 times, ending on top of the lower part. Finally, take a third snowball, and roll it 5 times on top of the snowman.


And finally, we've done something totally new: frozen over the water on Era! Go down toward the bridge leading to Southridge, and you'll be able to skate around, even PKing with others on the ice!

the frozen ctf was horrible with all the snowmans blocking the way, quite annoying, but did you delete the snowman drop? there no more candys dropping off it, or im just being unlucky.

We've removed the candy for now, and yes, the ETs decided to host the frozen CTF on their own :noob:

also, even though the iced waters is buggy when you PK, now.. no noobs can run and hide in the water when they are being killed :D

It's nice and all but are you seriously reusing the 2-3 year old snowmen without adding anything new?

We added the ice skating, and will do more stuff in the following weeks, hopefully. Keep in mind that we don't really have time to go all out on every holiday that comes around while we're still working full-time on the dev project.

No, I mean to the snowmen themselves. They're the exact same ones from the winter of 2006 aren't they? Just disappointing that they haven't really been updated on, they were my favorite thing about Era's winter along with snowangels. :3

Ah.. we might be able to get some people to make some new clothing and looks for them, not sure. Thus far we've had no success finding graphics people :p.

It's only 9 months from the end of winter until the start of winter, so yeah.

I knew someone was going to pick at what I said (trying to be a smartass) but it was too obvious so I didn't think it'd be you! Hokay, it doesn't even feel like it's been 10 months and 1 week and 6 days since this was last up :(

Probably because none of the staff thought to disable winter until practically July, since we'd all had it disabled :p.

Yeah, I noticed this late last night but didn't have time to fix it. I'll fix it later tonight.

Walkin in a winter wonderland

Ok the ice skating was a great idea, but I think the ice needs to be more "slideable". I like how you can speed up and such on it though.

As for the snowmen, whats the point of really using them when they dont drop random crap anymore? Yeah they are cool to look at but whats the point? Whether it be a bunch of stupid crap like snowhats, it still gives the player somthing to get for making them. The evil snowmen should be brought back also, those were cool.

I also believe that there should be more for holidays and such. Put the other server off for like 3 days at max, and script a really cool holiday thing that everyone will love.

You shouldn't have said that, people will get pissed if Era was down in 2 hours only lol.

But yeh, a huge event would be awesome. ^^

Like a Snow Apocalypse, and there will be VERY much snow everywhere. And there will be a snow storm, would make PK'ing interesting?

I find this funny, the day chris vimes posted it was when we got our first snow that stuck here and we got 6 inches. (winter up here because thats when you can get your snowmobiles out)

I meant Era dev as in the Other Server. But i like your idea of a snow apocalypse, people should actually be able to put water down where they want, wait for like an hour and then be able to skate on it. :D

Ok well theres 2 weeks til christmas now, lets get some things rolling with the christmas thing.

To staff: If your not going to put effort into this one either, please let Era players know so there isnt any disappointment about.
