I like weapons. I like them a lot.

So, I'm inviting you all to talk about them. I love talking about them. So, to quick off the conversation, how about a poll?

I'll tell you my favorite kind of weapon are the zhagnal class of weapons, but I like the kusarigama best! ;)

Heh... I wasn't really interested in weapons until I saw "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon", then I marveled at how many freaking weapons those people had at that time :D Well, ya, if I knew what those weapons were called, I'd do a little research...

Well, I'm glad to see a couple people gave a nod to rapiers and long swords, my original favorites!

Since then my tastes have changed a bit, but they're still among my favorite swords!

Ya, but look at how much ass-kicking Chow Yung Fat did with his Green Destiny in Crouching Tiger! True, those thick English swords work fine in England, but why get somefink heavy and bloody when you can get somefink light and effective?

Man, bao's sword in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was pretty unrealistic! It cut through everything, that was sad.

But don't ditch the English, they brought us the super light foil- my first favorite sword!

You'd think someone who preferred the "big loud, and head on" weapons would have chosen the mace, or something like that! That's about as head on as it gets, excepting fists. :)

Hey, who else gave a nod to fighting picks? I though I'd be the only one... :)

Looks like asian swords are getting about a vote for every other single one. I think that's an unfair bias! But, hey, they are pretty cool weapons- very well balanced weight, with the center of gravity slightly behind the blade, ideal for slashing. But I still think they're only a small part of all the greater (better?) weapons out there!

Guess I'll go with Asian swords, always a good choice :)
Katana and Wakizashi are a sure thing.

When it comes to defeating armoured opponents, you can't make much of a better choice than a kusarigama. That's why it's my current preferance.

Personally It's basically what kinda Situation your in what weapon comes out as the best.

It is obvious what I chose, but to those of you who can't figure it out it was spears. They are old and very fast and pretty cool, even though I like swords too

My favorite is staffs. I can fight with Bo's in real life and have been doing it almost all my life.

Poles are cool too, where do you fight, in a martial arts class, or one of those medeval sparring tournaments?

I coreograph fights with my friends who fence and yes, in a martial arts class/fencing class is where I learn/practice. I can't really learn anything else because I know more about specifically pole fighting then my instructor, so I just practice parrying skills against smaller swords, rapiers, and daggers or some other stuff.

Sounds interesting, do you plan to do anything with that knowledge, like coreograph fight sequences in movies?

I dont know but we have done some really cool fights to the Mortal Kombat thing and it went like this. I was like a mystical monk and I was standing completely still, holding my bo in a resting position. My two friends went up to each other, and did the formal japanese pre-fight greeting and began fighting hand to hand, but then they grabbed a double sided sword and a bo to fight each other with, so I stepped in the middle of the fight and it turned into a FFA ;) It was really great.

Maces are scary. Imagine getting hit really hard with a huge hammer.

Katanas are always my fave, cutting and slicing with ease :)

But I like rods and tonfar, too.
