Why not? I know that on G2K1 so many people use toall if you don't keep up with what people are saying, if you try to read them later its hard to see who was talking to who, plus there is a whole slew of them and you have to click each one, so annoying! Why not just add a built-in chatroom to graal? Say you push a button and it pops up just like the user list, you can chat with people there, it will get rid of all the "screen spam" that toalls cause and generally make things easier!

I know this has been mentioned before, would anyone here like to see this implemented too? Would you prefer using it to the current toall system?

Good way of getting rid of a load of toalls when you have them:
You'll lose all the toalls that you have ;)

Don't you hate it when you go AFK for 10 minutes, come back, and it's full of toall's that you want to read but don't know who the hell they're referring to? :(

If you were to add a chatroom service to graal......then no one would be playing the game much....just sitting and chatting.......I don't think stefan wants to put in something that will cause players to not play as much.....though it does sound nice......i do not think it would work.......and besides.....its your fault that you go afk any how :P

I think toalls were first intended as a method of public announcements. You'd send a toall to announce a "wedding", a spar tournament, and whatnot. But now, everyone uses mass PMs for that purpose (abusing them in most cases), and toalls are now for carrying on a conversation between you and people on the other side of the map. Because of this, I think it's more than necessary for toalls to be in chat room format. Of course there would be a seperate window for toalls that could be summoned with the press of an Fnumber button.

The current system we have for toalls is just plain messed up. You have no way of reviewing the toalls, and most of the time you don't even know who they're directed to, or even who they're from. But a window would change all that. You'd be able to review them, and maybe even show the player's entire nickname (in tool tip format, like Ms Word). Also, a window could expand the capabilities of toalls. There could be specific channels that you could open and close, so you could hold private conversations with your guild over toalls. Also, you could be able to "tell" a person something, like a private toall. :D

Maybe someone could even come up with a hypothetical user interface for the window...

Thanks for that tip grim, but you see I don't want to miss any of them, I want to read them, its just hard to keep up with all of them, especially if, as Psyker said, go AFK for a minute and when you come back there are like 100 messages and they are in no particular order. Hard to see who was talking to who or what they were even talking about.

Also I don't think it would really make players play less, but it would give them an easier way to converse with other players which I think is good. And also, once roleplaying takes full tilt, it will be a GREAT way to talk OOC (out of character) with other roleplayers. Sure I guess there will be some players who will come on only for the chat feature but that can't be helped. Plus there is no harm in that.

I have mixed feelings about this one... I think if Graal became a chatting game it might detract from the actual Graal game. :\

If the Graalians want to chat, let them chat! I've played numerous amounts of online RPGs, each one having its own chat room type system. Not everyone chats on it, but the people who want to chat do. Well, anyway, I've created a hypothetical interface for the window:

In the window, I've included the chat field, the send field, and a channel menu. The "channels" I'm talking about are different chat lines that you can talk on. Aside from the main channel, there could be a newbie help channel, a channel for announcements, and a channel for your guild.

You can ignore specific channels by clicking on the check mark by its name. To talk to a specific channel, simply click on it, and the name will turn yellow. Type your message in the send field, and your message will be sent. If you click on the double-box at the top of the channel menu, the menu will hide. click it again, and it will show :D Maybe you could even send you message to multiple channels by pressing shift and clicking on the names of the channels you wish to send the message to.

I'm open for ideas, and feel free to edit the interface file and show it here.

On another interesting fact, you can actually see on the minimap who is saying the toalls because it appears as a speech bubble uot of their head on the mini map ;)
But I do agree some kind of chat room replacement thing for it would be nice.

I though of this idea, and all I got was a lot of crap back from some ***s, can't remmember who... (YOU GUYS KNOW WHO YOU ARE)
