It may be illegal? It IS illegal. You shouldn't even have it, why are you broadcasting that you have it?

*starts up 1.3 Gserver*
I don't think it's illegal. From what I know, every version ABOVE 1.3 is illegal. GServers like 1.3> are illegal from what I've been told.
If they ARE illegal, then lock me away.

fugitive316 09-13-2001 06:57 AM

Gserver 1.3 is legal if operated on a local network. At least that's what Stefan said in a different topic.

double-click on the GServer.exe, select a port, and walah, you're ready to go.
If you want people to get on your server(thats a dur factor), then you would need to give out your IP so they can log onto your server...OOOOR you can get something like dynodns.net, which I used when hosting my 1.27 server a long time ago.

zell12 09-13-2001 07:04 AM

kick ass, so i just click on it, seletct a port number, use my ip number, and well, how do i get it online or whatever...

well once you select the port and click ok, it's online and ready for business.
Hold on a few minutes and I'll take a snap shot of the Gserver. It's pretty much an RC with control over everything :D

zell12 09-13-2001 07:08 AM

i know, im on it right now...but i don't see where i put the levels...or whats the start off one, or nething...

ok, you don't "put" levels anywhere. You update them into the Gserver, so to speak, by going to the Update Level window, selecting browse, and once you have the levels selected, click ok and update them. Then those levels which were updated will be playable.

zell12 09-13-2001 07:13 AM

so you have a gserver 2 eh?

well....YES!!!!!!
I've had it for quite a long time :D
I only have it up when my friends want to flash around their levels or graphics. NPC scripts wouldn't be a very good thing to do because of the constant NPC command updates Graal has.

zell12 09-13-2001 07:19 AM

ok, i got an account made, and when i try to login to it, it dosn't work...
i have the smae ip # and port number:confused:

ok, update onlinestartlocal.graal, make the account, give it a password, make sure you are logging on with the same port number. If you are trying to connect to your own GServer which is being hosted on the computer that you are using, then instead of the IP address, just put in "computer" as the address.

zell12 09-13-2001 07:25 AM

ok, thankz...
also, the RC account works perfect..so i think that will fix the regulat account

zell12 09-13-2001 07:26 AM

nope, dosn't work....oh well, i figure it out...lol

heh, cool.
Remember that you have a limit of 7(I think) people per server, so don't try to make your server big because people will get mad when they cannot connect to it.

zell12 09-13-2001 07:28 AM

when i get it done up some, i'll let ya on, because it is muh server System-ex...

heh, I just tried to update my Tolinus levels and I'm going to see if they're even compatible with this version of Graal :)
I need to avoid the levels which I have put baddies in though ;)

zell12 09-13-2001 07:35 AM

ok, one more question, what about FTP, and guild files, and such

I believe there used to be a guild manager type of program which would allow you to add/remove/edit guild memebers as soon as you clicked the OK button, although I can't remember if you could use that on your own server.
As for the FTP... your computer is the host entirely, so if somebody wants something online, they have to send it to you, and you should put it in your levels folder(I recommend the folder level because it wouldn't take much time to search for the directory).

zell12 09-13-2001 07:41 AM

well, this server an't the best place for a server, but what about Gserver 1.29, thats illgal eh?

I don't belive it was ever made....heh

fugitive316 09-13-2001 08:32 AM

The most stable version of Gserver is 1.28 . I was an admin of a playerworld in early 2000, and when we tried 1.3, weapons, heads, swords, etc would not save. We stuck with 1.28 after that bad experience, in which we had no problems with.

zell12 09-14-2001 04:45 AM

well...am i allowed to use that Gserver?

Brandon_Bravo 09-14-2001 05:03 AM

GServer Programs

So you're saying that I could have people on a GServer who use Charter Pipeline Internet, since I use it? LOL Actually, I was joking, but you know there are going to be people using the GServers across the internet, there's no stopping it.

zell12 09-14-2001 05:30 AM

ok, well i know that now, and there is alot of people using them...
so neway, i got the 1.28 Gserver but it isn't working, only the Gserver, not accounts, not RC, just the Gserver
