how do you script something like the worm boss from Zelda: a link to the past? look, I even made a crap worm graffic, lol. I'm nto gonna use this on any server, especially not murasamune, because you guys don't like murasamune :(

please help

LilbrojX 08-29-2001 01:53 AM

the red thing is it's weak point, i guess

LilbrojX 08-29-2001 02:11 AM

:( you guys are mean, no one here likes me :(

oscarjf1 08-29-2001 02:15 AM

hmm...

I know what youre talking about, infact, Im already working on the same script, lol. Ive got the level set up and everything...but, its hard as anything to start it off. I used 3 different images. 1, the head, 2, the body parts, and 3, the tail.
Then, you need to set a timeout for it to move. When its a timeout, I used the move command. Place onwalls in needed areas, apply the images to the right spots, have random values for moving, and youre basically started.

That is just for the head. Next, you might want to add level.vars for the body parts, since as far as i know, there is no "follownpc" command. so, you would use a showimg for the body and tail, based on the position of the worm. Or, you could use actual NPCs to do this. I'd post my script, but it isnt finished. When it is, Ill let ya have it ;).

(Sry if this doesnt make any sence)

Okay, here im gonna break it down....

!head npc
-timeout times
--move command
---random value from -2,3 for level.movex
---random value from -2,3 for level.movey
--- speed in which its moved
--- options (use onwall option)
--Showing image based on value of random level.movex,y.
--level.bodyx for body
--level.bodyy for body
--Player involvement commands (such as washit, touchsme ect)

!body
-timeout times
--x=proper position based on level.bodyx
--y=proper position based on level.bodyy
--player involvement

!tail
----Same as body
--hearts=level.hearts

!All
-timeout times
--if clause when level.hearts=0.
---hide
---set flag

Its not exactly code, its an outline ;)

kaimetsu, chill. I'm not trying to still/recreate your script. it's not like you had the idea of making a segmented thingy before anyone else did, I think konami did that in gradius and life forces and contra. so did nintendo, and capcom.

LilbrojX 08-29-2001 04:27 AM

I just wanna know how everything works :(

That's why you won't get much help, you think everyone is against you. He might have been saying that like: "it sounds like something I scripted, maybe I could help you since I know how to make something like that already."

Anyways, yes, I remember OF the boss, but not the specifics of how it worked.

it's a long story, it ties into some dragon guy I thought of that soul was asking kaimetsu for help on and he blew us off, but I'm sure you guys don't wanna hear about murasamune.

umm, yeah, it roamed around, it had thick armor, and it's tail was it's weak point.

LilbrojX 08-29-2001 04:37 AM

and anyway, yeah, almost everyone here that's actually important is against me, I remmember commenting on something and being called a lil troll and told to go away...

Vinvect 08-29-2001 05:30 AM

I'm on almost all the time from Wed-Fri, W-Dragon. Besides, you can leave me a message at ICQ (89359836).

And I can do it as soon as you explain how it works... I never played Zelda.

I was under the impression that he wanted this script Online. Thats what most people do. ;)

Well it wasn't anything like your "Drakkara", it was more like this snake boss from Super Metriod.

1) It was a boss, in other words, a 1 time thing.

2) It would go through holes and fly...

3) It was nothing like your Drakkara, besides the fact on how the script kept the segments together...

Hehe I was gonna ask Kyle for help on it...because this requires someone thats above the above average skill level in scripting :(
But, everyone knows Kyle hates me, so thats a hopeless question to ask him.

*punches head*

I meant clientside, but I suppose in this case we're not talking about clientside stuff. You wouldn't need level.variables for the snake anyway, because you could read x and y from the other NPCs.

This would make it easier....well, atleast for me. I did it off the top of my head, and level.vars are more easily controlled in my opinion. Let's not turn this post into a flame ;)

Regardless, I made a creature and soon after you asked me how to make something similar for your world. I won't help you look good with my scripting. Sorry.

I wasn't asking for anything near your scripting, I was asking for help on math...lets just eliminate the script part of it. All I was asking for was a little math problem...how to make a circle move behind another. Thats it. I was going to do everything else.

Still, you were asking me to provide something that would allow you to pretty much copy the principles behind the Drakkara. I can't do that.

we wheren't gonna copy you, I dunno, I guess you seemed like the guy to go to for help. guess we where wrong though

Silver Knight 08-30-2001 04:36 AM

The way the boss moved=Jump out of the ground and move in a direction and reenter the ground about 5 spaces away from where it started. Weakness was being hit in the head (or tail, cant remember) and was invulanble in the body segments.

WRONG BOSS, NOT THE DESERT ONE, THE SINGLE SNAKE GUY THING IN THE TOWER! AGGGHHH!:grrr: :grrr: :grrr:

lol, did you guys know that if you put too many smilies in your post it won't let you post it?

Silver Knight 08-30-2001 10:44 PM

Oh, ok. Ya the tower worm like boss moved randomly bouncing off wals. Tail was weakpoint.

T-Squad 08-30-2001 10:47 PM

W-Dragoon I probably could do that boss since it has a simpler movement then the Magnorus...I could just make the circles follow each other...for the magnorus I needed a different kind of following...but anyway I could just record the x and y of the one in front of it, then that circle will go there...and it would never end while its moving.
