Light Effects

Anyone know a good cheap Video Card that can see lighting effects and such on Graal?

Birdbird_0 08-23-2001 02:33 PM

:p

wetferret1 08-23-2001 02:33 PM

all you need is direct 8!

Domini 08-23-2001 02:34 PM

GeForce 2 MX will do nicely.
It is very value-priced, and offers stellar performance for its price range.

Komieko 08-23-2001 02:35 PM

And what would that price range be?

Since I'm Canadian, it's different for me, but about $200 Canadian.

wetferret1 08-23-2001 02:40 PM

Direct 8 is free!

However if your video card does not support Direct 3D, then it might not work (not too sure about that)

Scooter2001 08-23-2001 02:44 PM

Just because you have DirextX 8 doesn't mean you'll see the lighting effects...I have a voodoo card and won't see the light effects untill Stefan adds OpenGL support....and I do have DirectX 8

::runs to door::

Komieko 08-23-2001 02:47 PM

Anyone know where to get updates for this card:
intel(r) 82810-DC100 Graphics Controller

Komieko 08-23-2001 02:49 PM

I mean like new drivers.Anyone?

toad1413 08-23-2001 02:53 PM

All you need is a video card that supports Direct 3D.

Komieko 08-23-2001 02:54 PM

And how do I figure out if it actually supports Direct3d?

wetferret1 08-23-2001 02:54 PM

ummm I am not sure about that one....wait yes I am

slp 08-23-2001 02:55 PM

omg.

if you dont have a vCard that supports Dir.3d its not worth buying one over graal.

His card might not even support DirectX 7 and that's what he needs most to see the lights...he needs to update his drivers for his card so it will support DirectX 7-8....his cards haven't been updated for awhile..I know this cause I'm trying to help him on it.

I had a video card that supported DirectX 7, and I had a huge amount of problems with that system. On this one, which is running DirectX 7 on a GeForce 2 GTS, I can see light effects, but disabled them because they're overused and I don't think they look that good.

The lighing effects are good in some places, just not in the Underground Lake. :)
