New Iricia
 
Me and Imperialistic are working on a updated version of Iricia

What I am doing/done:

1) Put turrets (3) at each of the spawn bases (Sweet Fleet and Storm Raiders). These I am hoping are only going to be allowed to be used by their respective teams. Otherwise we could make them auto turrets to help reduce the spawn base laming.

2)took out all the boxes on main iricia. I have the bunkers left to do

3) extended Storms bunker a bit

What Imperialistic is doing:

1) Making a new super base inside and out. This is located near storm raiders base.

2) If I am not mistaken he wants to make more also.

Well this is iricia 2.0 so maybe we can make it another map and just randomize between wins what next one is loaded.

why no boxes..gee I wonder...boxing bunkers is a reason..lol.

Well it isn't totally finished..

The whole base is too symmetrical, and I totally with Chris here (that was your nick, right? D: ). Also, on the outside, you need some overlayable images for the supposed-to-be windows in the middle. That looks gey currently.

I agree with you, however, there is no Zone "Window" Tiles... so they improvised if we find a Graphics Artist who can make some additions to the current tile sets, this may be fixed.

Also, I don't know about torrents on all bunkers, maybe just the main Headquarters, and Base one. Also, I would like to ask if you guys could give a rough sketch of the new layout, or is the placing going to be stay the same just a bit bigger.

And, I do agree with the Boxes, they are fun to use on Iricia for building forts removing them should not be the solution, instead keep it the same. I personally, say that boxing is fine, of doors, and such. In real time war you can barricade anything, why not on allow them too do the same in the game?

-Removed ability to place boxes.
-Add turrets to the home bases
-Added a super bunker



I mean I'm more than happy to take more inputs on where, or what to do with the rest of the unused area on Ircia..

I have a few suggestions. Make a secret passageway between each base that could possibly be closed every few rounds but would open every once and a while. You could utilize the area below base 3 and by base four by adding a secret bunker. There is a lot of stuff you could do. Boxes really should be added. They add an element of challenge to playing. Perhaps just have them disabled on/in bunkers to prevent problems with door blocking.. If you add turrets you should adjust the range of the turrets possibly? To make sure that they are not used as an offensive weapon on base 4. Also the space above Sweep Fleet's base could have something. You could reorient some of the bases.

Between SR base and base 2? Unbalanced. Not the right place for a "super bunker" (wtf). Also, about the "totally difficult windows" -> 1 color image, black or darkish blue (if blue, not too much saturation) with an alpha of 75%. Should do it I guess. Simple, but also effective. Better than not showing its windows at all.

If you guys take away the boxes i'll box you to the ground. It wouldn't solve anything, personally boxing isn't even as bad as hardcore door laming, if you have 5 guys, 1 with goopistoles, 3-4 with photons and 1-2 with prox/pipes/gas grenades, no ones going in there anytime soon. The point is, boxes should stay, they add a little strategy to the game and are fun to play around with.

As for the storm bunker expansion, it just seems smaller because it is in a L like shape, but is around the same size. Storm loses soo much because it is farther from bases than sweep is, sweep is 2 second away from b4, and b5 is basically always its too, but storm is horrible to try and run to get a base.

I'm not seeing a part where this makes iricia more fun/balenced. A SUPER base near ONE TEAMS hq seems like again a huge disadvantage to Sweep. If you want a super base, replace it with base1, or re-do iricia completely and place it in the middle.

Overall you guys should rethink this whole "iricia 2.0", just redo the entire map, changing aroung the current one won't do much.

I want the map to have as little changes in overall placement as can be, the layout should stay, but as Luffy said, just make B1 more buff, and the bigger bases are ok, although not really needed, really Iricia is fine, a variation that would alternate each match would be nice though, a couple variations of Iricia with different placement, and maybe changed (bigger or smaller) bases.

Hmm, I think I came up with a conclusion..

Im going to move the super bunker maybe somewhere in the middle bottom around Base 3 and 4.. And enhance some of the other bases.. Does this sound good?

Make afew secret passages. We could always add a warp in each spawn bunker that will activate every few rounds to let ppl goto a random base.

Base raping is the reason Iricia is alive :'( also they already scripted it so that you can't block doors with boxes anymore, boxes are not a problem. KEEP THEM THERE. Super base looks awesome though. I'd say you guys are doing a good job though.

I have to agree though this should not replace Iricia, it should simple maybe switch out every so rounds.

No you misunderstand not another planet, the map would switch out to the new map every so rounds (3) or so. The old map would be the majority of time since it is most liked, and if they like the new map a lot more, then maybe it will be every other round or something.

Well, I know old players like Iricia alot, but I really think it needs a rework. But whats being discussed in here isnt really going anywhere I think. I made a quick sketch to show how a good, tactic map would look like (from my point of view).

SR = Storm Raiders
SW = Sweep Fleet
Numbers = bases
B = additional bunkers, no bases though

The colored lines are showing underground passageways (which shouldnt be too small so you can still fight in there). The one going from 2 to 5 will not let you get into 1.

But raven, shouldn't there be 2. We can have the super bunker in Crow's version. And the underground tunnels. Turrets and whatever else flows.
