New System! :)

Hey everyone :)
We made a new system (we as in Raven, Uri and I )
Heres how its going to work:
Since unfinished houses collaspe after 2 weeks, and their Material is dropped on the ground, we're going to get everyone part of the Kingdom to pick up any material you find. Eventially, we're going to have a building/certain place to put it. Therefore, anyone who plans on building a house, but has trouble getting the materials, can go to this certain place and take what you need. But we need you to tell us what you took.
I think yous' will like it
I'm going to be scouring the Island for material for a little while.

Awsome, i'll steal it all :oo:

Also, we're trying to get a logging script

Ravenblade1979 11-10-2007 12:06 AM

actually the script will only allow kingdom members in. I will ask though that if we get this that what you take you replace. If we see that this isn't happening we will have it removed permanently. I put forward the idea of the underground kingdom storeage area to benefit everyone. Don't abuse it.

Thats no fun... There was such a thing as a thief in the medievil period... That's just not sportsman-like x_x scripting it so that it cannot be stolen, foul play x_x

Ravenblade1979 11-10-2007 12:16 AM

Sorry dude thats the point of "Kingdom Underground Storeage"

kia345 11-10-2007 12:19 AM

Majin, get a zeppelin, you should be able to get in Zormite's castle with it. I know it works on CP's.

[EDIT:] Raven that's lame, there's no reason to throw out lame scripts, that's not fair at all

A master thief should still be able to break into an underground storage x_x Dynamite perhaps? Kill the guards silently? More dynamite? Lock pick or small explosive? Empty sacks? Full sacks? Get-away ship? Party at my huse? :noob: Seriously, no fun, i wanted to have some fun stealing all your stuff x_x

Edit:

I'll try out the zeppelin thing (should actually always work since they fly ABOVE walls? And should be a tactical method of kingdom infiltration along with breaking through shipyards, sabotage (the fleet), straight into the barracks and so on.

Googi 11-10-2007 12:21 AM

You don't need some sort of fancy updates to have "kingdom underground storage". Just use a locked chest in an open house.

Oh wait, I'm already doing that.

It shouldn't do :( We've updated the script in the door so people can't get through. But thats on debug and Bjorn ain't uploaded the bloody thing yet.

There should be a way to pick locks... If someone leaves the front door wide open, a semi-talented thief should be able to take everything lieing around and pick any lock chests found. Only front doors should be secure from break-ins otherwise it just gets to a point where a house is pointless unless you have guards everywhere and bmode is enforced.

No walls should be safe from a zeppelin infiltration... Thats a friggin aerial assault...

stop trying to wreck ideas.

I think I'm the only actual Thief on Graal Kingdoms. With the class thefe I mean. But yeah, there should be more thief type abilties. Like picking locks and concealment/hiding should work.

I agree completely. I think Zeppelins can be an important tool in a battle. People don't seem to care though.
Anyway, what I meant was so people can't get inside the actual castle through the door. People can still fly over the walls. Every other kingdom has it so only kingdom members or allies can enter the castle interior so I guess CP needs it too. Although I think it would be best if anyone can enter any castle providing they use the zeppline to get over the wall first. Like you said, getting in someone's castle and sabotaging their war efforts is a very strategical thing to do and would be done IRL if someone had the chance.

No there shouldn't be. You might as well say "we should get rid of locked containers" since nobody would use them if such a thing were to happen.

Ravenblade1979 11-10-2007 12:29 AM

Well i will impliment this anyways. you can get inside the walls..just not down the stairs. Felix and Fayt know what I mean...so unless ur in zormite you can't get in.

Unless you start bribing people. in that case i would get it removed if stuff wasn't put back.

No, Zormite Castle has a kingdom only script on the door and CP's castle only has the script on debug and not on Kingdoms.

I completely agree, but i guess with how GK has any class can work on their skills to be equally as good as someone who started as another class, anyone could master the thief trade.

Mhmm, except if someone can infiltrate the walls, and there is no physical barrier blocking the interior entrance, they should be able to get inside.

The locking system would still be effective in preventing low class thieves from stealing your goods, obviously not the more skilled ones, but if you leave the door open, you should expect to be robbed...

There shouldn't be a script, prepaired and successful attackers should be able to access every interior level IF the defence is so weak.

Which means it wouldn't still be effective. I don't think you realize that what you're talking about here is a skill that would make itself obsolete. If you can pick locks, there will cease to be locks to be picked.

Then create more advanced locks that require a higher skill of lock-picking. The locks would obviously cost more but would protect your valuables from most thieves... There simply can't be just a lock which cannot be broken no matter what...

... There can be locks, it's only that they will not be impenitrable... If you leave your house open, you're just asking to be robbed, and if you leave your market stall unattended, you're asking for it again... Just take care and nothing will happen to you. Locks will still be needed for basic protection when having a market stall open...

Yes they will... Some protection is better than no protection at all...

kia345 11-10-2007 02:20 AM

Spells to keep a chest locked/Traps that summon monsters if the chest is picked. Think of any rpg game, there's always booby trapped chests.

No Googi is right, I would rather weigh myself down with items rather than have the chance of them being stolen. If Kingdoms could afford to have guards then this might be useful, but even then it would be abused because you would have this person in pmode just standing there taking your stuff. Also pmode will not be going away anytime soon so everything about thieves getting these exclusive skills would be abused. Also, no class has exclusive skills so why should thieves? You will have an enitre server of 3 high level people with all the items and that would be it because it would create an insane imbalance.

You're pretty much saying people are going to pay to get protection that's roughly at the same level as stashing your items somewhere that people don't go to much (which nobody does). Pickable locks are even weaker protection than bury-bagging.

Ravenblade1979 11-10-2007 05:24 AM

Leon if it came down to wartime and crap like that i wouldn't care because its expected. But in between...i don't like the idea of that. This is for the benefit of people in zormite. If you want the same thing in dustari i am sure i can talk to stephen to get it implimented there.

But I'm already using a system that's pretty much the same except that I pay people for the supplies they get.

Mousymee 11-10-2007 07:42 AM

if you could pick peoples locks open then you might as well be able to just whack them in the face and steal their equips too right?

MajinDragon 11-10-2007 01:30 PM

Ok ok, let me make this obsolutely clear. IF YOU LEAVE YOUR FRONT DOOR OPEN OR LEAVE YOUR MARKET STALL UNATTENDED, YOU SHOULD EXPECT YOUR CHESTS TO BE BROKEN INTO, WHAT IS SO HARD IN SHUTTING THE DAMN DOOR? AND IF YOU'RE MONITORING YOUR MARKET STALL AND A THIEF WALKS IN AND BEGINS TO TAMPER WITH YOUR CHESTS, IT'LL TAKE HIM SOME TIME, YOU'LL BE NOTIFIED AND YOU CAN TRY AND KILL HIM THEN SHUT THE DOOR.

Jesus christ i really don't know why you object to this, it's logical to think that there will be thieves, and that if you invite them into your house (open door) you're bound to be robbed... Having a system where it is impossible to be robbed because some flimsy lock is in place is ludicrous...

And stealing from players is a totally different and would never be implimented at this stage of Graal Kingdoms. I'd only support item drops in a certain system which i am not going to ramble on about...

Mousymee 11-10-2007 05:49 PM

I know it wouldn't, I was making a point.

Jeez, how would there be an inbalance when you can simply lock your front door to ensure no thief enters? I never said it would be a thief only skill, if you read i actually talked about how GK allows for anyone of any class to learn any skills which allow anyone to learn the thief trade. You wouldn't need a guard since all you have to do is keep your front door lock or actually monitor your market stand (extremely unrealistic that some stands have been left with money on the table for months/years...). Then just make it so you can only lock pick or use actual stealing techniques in bmode? Or when you use them you're switched into bmode so that the market owner can quickly take care of you? All of the items? That would require every single player to be complete retards and leave flimsy locks on their chests AND leave their front doors open...

Because it makes the game worse by destroying the utility of certain features. I don't care if people can take money from tables and pick locks in "real life". The purpose of the server is to be a good game, not to simulate the real world.

Except that this is the only way it makes sense to use market stands. If you have to monitor your stand you might as well just use the trade tables.

How will it make the game worse when one can simply avoid anything happening to them by simply LOCKING THE DOOR.

Alright, the market stands would prolly be made a terrible form of trade, but still, chests left inside a market house would be at risk of theft.

Because it destroys the purpose of chests. The point of locked containers. The point is to keep the items safe when the house is open. If they don't do this, then there's no reason to use them (and therefore they will not be used).

They will keep them safe still, just not from every single player.

Which means they won't keep them safe. Do you seriously think that under such a system you would be able to keep your house open and not get the items in the container stolen?

Houses shouldn't be left open and unattended, unless it's a shop house, which shouldn't be filled with chests... I suggest a storage/living house and a seperate shop house for those who want to store items as well as sell items...

Which is exactly what would happen if locks were made pickable. There would be no locked chests to be picked. Adding such a skill wouldn't really be adding anything at all. It would really just be removing locked chests.
