Clock GUI -WIP-

1 Attachment(s)
For Mythic Legends, Ziro asked me to do a GUI for weather/time/temperature/season and I came up with the below. Still not done with it, I need to make the face, spruce up the window that displays the season, and texture the wood a little.

Comments/Criticisms anyone?

Demisis_P2P 04-03-2007 05:37 AM

Where is the temperature?

It's going to be a thermometer clock. Either like that, or with the temperature on the top and the clock in the smaller circle.

That's just crazy enough to work.

Demisis_P2P 04-03-2007 06:08 AM

P.S. I like it and it looks nice.

Gambet 04-03-2007 06:15 AM

Much better than a lot of stuff I've seen from you.

It's nice so far.

SayianOozaru 04-03-2007 06:44 AM

I like the layout so far. I want to see it finished. :)

Probably have it done either today/tomorrow. Hopefully I won't disappoint ;)

Crow 04-03-2007 02:03 PM

Change the color of that font and add some AA to it ;o

haunter 04-03-2007 03:18 PM

The clock is pretty so far, but people are making their guis way too big nowadays. :( I mean that much space for a clock/weather thing?

DustyPorViva 04-03-2007 03:45 PM

I was just about to post that too. This is a little big if it's going to be on the screen all the time, or anytime really, especially for something as trivial as time.

Tom 04-03-2007 04:24 PM

Nice :D But yea agreed with the dudes above, its a little chunky to be there all the time >.>

smirt362 04-03-2007 08:11 PM

I dunno, I think it's fine. Especially since what he has now takes up about the same room horizontally, I just displayed the information vertically.

Elk 04-03-2007 09:26 PM

i improved it a bit myself xD

Chandler 04-03-2007 09:47 PM

wow, I really like!!

Pretty. You don't need the hands though. Those are taken care of by showpoly. :)

Elk 04-04-2007 12:15 AM

oh damn =(

also wanted to add...
you might take care at the lightsource next time ^^

If you take out that image or whatever, it's like 16 instead of 45. Whoever made that icon used a ton of colors...That icon is just there as a place holder anyways.

Edit:
I could probably work on the gold part and use less colors

DustyPorViva 04-04-2007 01:29 AM

Perhaps change the backdrop of the clockface with the image of the season instead of dedicating a whole section of the clock to it?

I like this, but rather a minitature back drop, then when you do a mouseover it shows the bigger version. Scripting rocks.

Actually, it's what ziro wanted and the icon isn't the season, it's the current weather.

Gambet 04-04-2007 02:49 AM

Wait, I don't get it.

How is it a bad thing to use more colors?

Elk 04-04-2007 02:50 AM

its not bad...its just waste of space :p there are like 20 colors that are similar to 1

yep, if you compare a HD Movie and a normal DVD it wouldn't matter, would it?

Well, on small images, who cares about some bytes? On larger images you can probably worry about that.. >_> :p

Exactly. Or if you are working on a bigger game project ;o

DustyPorViva 04-05-2007 01:48 AM

It's a pixel art practice. Not so important nowadays, but still a good practice if you're pixeling.

WanDaMan 04-05-2007 08:42 AM

I really like it, nice job :D

I'm done now...I think

SayianOozaru 04-05-2007 12:09 PM

You need to make the bar for the tempurature fill up the whole thing, and seperate it from the number thingy. I think in scripts they can use a 3d light, and make the bar change with that, depending on the tempurature.

They could just use showimg to display the whole bar, and then do changeimgpart with the variables of the temperature and some maths inside and...BAM there you got your working bar ;o

SayianOozaru 04-05-2007 04:28 PM

Ya. What he said. O_o

^^

I don't know what y'all are talking about, my screen is always massive.

DustyPorViva 04-05-2007 05:56 PM

You can't just make things like gui's with only you in mind though, you have to take into consideration the average player.

Zideruic 04-05-2007 07:06 PM

Most people I know play "Fit to screen"
