Murasamune Tileset Sample

Here it is, the next release of the tileset. We have finally made the tileset so that it works with the world...heres a screenshot directly from one of the levels of a village in Murasamune, hope you like it:

It looks good, but you could extend the door tiles so you don't have the bit of grass under the door.

Lion'el-Jonson 07-06-2001 10:39 AM

That's hella good

Yeah, I'm going to make more things like that to work with all the tiles...but that bottom door tile is for grass, I will make sand bottoms to...don't look at the small things because its still being perfected, even if you did look at small things there are very few errors.

I know, it's great. How long did it take you to make it?

It's awsome, but the water in the top-right looks strange.

As I already said, I am still perfecting everything...I agree, the water does look strange, and I'm testing different things out.

cliffs and trees suck
and i thought you were moving away from the 'graal style'?

Slaktmaster 07-06-2001 05:03 PM

Really good Soul Blade!

grim_squeaker_x 07-06-2001 05:20 PM

Hmm, I don't like the water and cliffs, especially the water, it looks like a drawing made with crayon on paper, which can look nice but not in this case. The cliff colors just look strange, although that could be an effect of it still being the old Graal cliffs (At least I think they're that) without any editing at all which then have changed color due to a palette change....

Fai 07-06-2001 06:14 PM

The house is really good. The rest I don't like. The rest just looks like the old tiles, but filtered.

That looks NOTHING like graal, I only color changed a few things from the first tileset, things I thought matched my new.

A drawing made with crayon on paper? Look at the old graal water...WOW so much detail on that, its plain blue! I already said I'm experimenting with the water and such, drawing different textures and seeing which I like best.

The cliffs are the hardest tiles to make in my opinion, they are so complicated and with lots of pieces, I don't even understand why they are there...but no way aer those cliffs a recoloring, I spent hours on those. I'm probably going to spend more time to make them look rockier, I got kind of lazy towards the end and didn't keep the same effect on all the cliff tiles (as you can probably see in these cliff tiles).

Filtered? You mean remade. I remade all tiles in that level, except those sand grass border tiles. How you could see ANY relationship between my tiles and old is beyond me.

I meant that in the way of how the texture looks, crayon on paper always has a certain texture to it and when I saw your water I was reminded of that.

Fai 07-06-2001 10:17 PM

Dood.
The non-house tiles look like texturized Graal tiles.

Even if you "Remade" them, it would be a waste of time to do that when you could texturize them in a second.

Yeah I know, the current texture does look strange...although I like the wave tiles in the water with that texture.

So then the bush, both the plants, tall grass, house, water rock, rock (did I show the rock?), cut grass, bush and whatever else look like texturized graal tiles? Please...

Fai 07-06-2001 10:33 PM

The weeds and trees should be fixed. They look odd. Bushes are nice.. but familiar.

SSmutz 07-06-2001 10:40 PM

I'm starting to dislike tilesets like that one. Yes, it is good. But I prefer Graal being more cartoon-ish.

mee too

all graal needs are simple colors and low detail.

T-Squad 07-06-2001 10:52 PM

:( Nows the time to tell me everyone likes graal style better...its SOOOOOO much easier to go graal style...I've already spent hours on my tileset....its not like I can switch now.

Well even if you don't like my tileset, I'm at least proud that I'm the only one trying to make all my stuff completely different from any other server...

You could of course make two tilesets, one in Graal style and one in your own style and then let people choose whatever they like best.

Keep working on it. It's great.

Just you'd have to make new bodies/races for your server.. It won't look well with the current Graal bodies.

Then I would have to make 16 tilesets....you got to remember, I'm making a different outdoor tileset for 4 different time periods, plus indoor tilesets for 4 different time periods...that way we can have really complicated levels and add every little detail.

Okay I didn't know that part of it, nevermind my idea in that case.

Don't worry, We are making new bodies. W-Dragoon is working on the first body, and it looks great. As for races, we are adding that one we get 2 other worlds done, which won't be any time soon...we need to finish the middle ages time period first.

Middle Ages time should explain why this tileset is darker and kinda gloomy, thats the effect I'm going for. For prehistoric, I'm going to make it have the brightness of graal style, and the detail of my current style on these tiles. Same for modern...Future is going to be gloomy though.

Your idea is possible...but would take forever.

Huggles 07-06-2001 11:34 PM

I find it amazing how the house has such a simple pallete. I just found out by looking at it =-)

Its not really going to take up much of the pallete on it

Solareon 07-06-2001 11:45 PM

okay honestly

the wll is the same causeyou haven'tchanged it's edge tiles, the houses look really complicated with fine detail but the grass edgins are too bold

ok, speak english with semi proper grammer and MAYBE i can understand what you said

Gameo 07-07-2001 03:34 AM

TrueHeaT:
unless you replace the barrels, and other standard graal tiles, replace the puffy edges with something original and redo the cliffs which look like awful rectextured graal cliffs it's still 'graal style'

The barrals, baskets, and blue jug thingies are all NPCs, and yes those GFX will be remade...hard to explain why I put those NPCs there, but it will make sense in the future...

Huggles 07-07-2001 06:14 AM

The tiles are well made, I like

The grass will be rather well mesed up unless both grass tiles are together

RawPower 07-07-2001 06:30 AM

It looks nice n all but those cliffs need some work =\

What you meant is "those cliffs need ALOT of work"...Hehe I am working on them though, although very annoying to make.

Hey good job,

but.. It's too drab for Graal. I can imagine the bright colored Graal characters running around in that...

They are making new bodies.

Brady2 07-08-2001 12:47 AM

Unless it is another .exe it will still have the colors..

well thats true, but anyway the new bodies have legs and look a little more real, it will fit in much better. Also, that is only 1 of the tilesets for the middle ages time period, prehistoric and modern times will have brighter colored characters, future will be dull colored again...but yes, it isn't possible to make it perfect until graal supports color changing in bodies for..more complex palettes.

Don't worry, it still looks good.
