A...crate?
Looks too shiny, and the texture you almost had going is completely lost because of the black line you used to seperate the top and front.
The tone difference, if applied properly, should be enough. |

This was my attempt at a boat...advise please. |
Too shiny, still
How do you suggest I make it less shiny? I guess I don't understand.
You need to find a point where its shiny...
I can't really show it now, I'm currently at school |
It also looks like it's only 2 inches wide.
You also need to work on the texture
Alright 'll work on that for the future, thanks.
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...ruic/boat3.png Is this a bit better? |
Slightly

The highlights / shadows are put in the wrong place. You have been shading stuff in strip patterns instead of shading what parts should be. When you shade in strips instead of around edges or in the center, your object comes off looking a bit like cellophane. Please note what I've done in the image below.
why r there 3 shining spots I think it looks odd
What three spots do you mean?
I like the design, But it is a bit shiny in certain points where it should not be. I also dont very much like how flat it looks :frown:. But overall just work on your lighting.

Also...I dont really think boats are shaped like that x_x , I believe that they are boxed at one end and than come to a point, but correct me if im wrong.
Not ALL boats are designed the same way.
Well i've never seen a boat that was completely rounded like that x_x, and even if a boat was rounded on both ends, it would be alot more narrow and both ends would still come to a point.

I kind of fixed the shininess i think... Or you could think of an ark. |
You took the shinyness away, but now there's not much shading at all.
Oh rofl, I forgot about barges. >_<
I think I give up lol

Why give up? Look at your first image and look at this one. You've made vast improvements. |
Lol so how can I shade that without using 500000 colors?

Easy. Take a look at this please. In the first spot, I have how you shaded the crate before. You shaded it in diagonal strips. In the second spot, I have how I would shade it, moving all the shadows into spots they would belong. In the third spot, I added in detailing to shift the focus off of the object's normal shading in order for the object's shading to become a less apparent, more discrete feature.
Never seen such a small boat like that in a square form =)!
Thanks for the advice, I'll try that in a bit.
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...c/f9f91ae3.png I tried some simple shading, i think it made it look a tiny bit better. |
Yeah, a little bit. Remember that there's stuff other than the outside of the boat, though. Shade some of the inner planks the same way you did the outer ones.
The perspective on that barge is wrong. It doesn't bend down enough on the side which is closest to you.
