Sanstrata house

Well I sort of had this picture in my mind for a wooden yet sort of classy house. This is a rather small one for maybe a small spell shop or something. Tell me what you think.

Also the windows were tilted on propose.

I sort of got the idea for the top of the house from a house that soul blade made.

WanDaMan 03-01-2004 02:58 PM

To dark, hrmmm
Add it into a level and show us, may look pretty better in a level :)

Spark910 03-01-2004 03:28 PM

I don't like the TOP of the house (roof). Rest looks nice though.

Thanks just wait untill I finish my 100 mini plants and some small growing trees and add it in there with the new bodys.

Myomoto 03-01-2004 04:10 PM

Isn't the treetrunks top part a little bit off the viewing angle? besides that it looks nice, but the house is a bit dark still ;O

Thats because of the shadow... =/.

Tyrial 03-01-2004 05:39 PM

Very nice

ETD 03-01-2004 06:19 PM

I was going to say that it was too much brown... but when I see it in a level, it isn't
:P
the top is a little too plain, but I don't know how you could fix that...

It would look awsome in a dark, densly wooded forest though ;)

also, level-wise, the shadows for the trees are directly under... but the shadow for the house is as big as the house itself infront of it... (looks like the sun is setting or something, and not overhead, like suggested with the trees)

but I do understand that the level was just made to show the house
:P

LordZen 03-01-2004 07:22 PM

You still shouldnt have it so dark. Alot of your stuff is really dark initially, and people often say to lighten it up. That house looks like it belongs in a night-time setting, and then about that much light from the moon would cause such colors. The sun is considerably brighter.

Just trust me, it'll look better if you have a greater variation in shades of the colors you use.

WanDaMan 03-01-2004 07:31 PM

I don't like it in the level, higher the contrast.. :)

Galdor 03-01-2004 07:32 PM

I love the tree =]
the shadow of the house looks a bit odd...

Nick1988 03-01-2004 07:53 PM

I think it doesn't look wide enough. The screenshot looks nice though.

VeX_RaT_Boy 03-01-2004 08:26 PM

I like it a lot :) Good Job!

Why wouldn't they, like make them spore open and like blue light effects come out :D

Smeh 'star ship troopers' rocks :)

LordZen 03-01-2004 10:23 PM

See how much better that is? lol

When I first looked at the darker version I could not find the windows you were talking about :D

You shouldnt need 24 bit support x_X

It is possible to make the roof a seperate image from the rest of the house and put them together with a gani and then you'd have a bit more flexibility in the color department.

Hows this?

Muha_builder 03-01-2004 11:18 PM

donald are you monitor settings a bit dark and cool plant. and the house is much better now.

haunter 03-01-2004 11:36 PM

I thought the first house was horrible. The latest version is MUCH better! The shading on the roof looks weird to me though... An what's the with black around the edge of the roof? I think it would look better with wood there. :)

Edit: Oh, also try anti-aliasing the cross bits in the windows, they look jagged.

MrCharles 03-01-2004 11:51 PM

...If my monitor settings were dark my graphic's would look too bright not too dark. You mean are my monitor settings a bit bright and yes they are I like it bright.

marcoR 03-02-2004 12:32 AM

Don't like, atall.

Myukoi 03-02-2004 02:14 AM

Woah, that is amazing!
It's so detailed and amazing, and realistic.

Nitkizi 03-02-2004 02:50 AM

It looks awesome, but that roof is nasty..it doesn't seem to fit with the rest of the house..it looks like a slab of gold or something on top..

Oh, by the way, your grass tiles rock.

Thak2 03-02-2004 03:55 AM

Looks awesome Donald.

The first screenshots look bland and sortof uninteresting, but when you added the fauna and otherbits to the grass floor, it seriously looks very good.

Tweekeroth_Rebirth 03-02-2004 05:12 AM

I mean i'm not into the whole really graphiced looking styles, i'm more into old school zelda style, but that is very good

Yes,Thanks!.

Spark910 03-02-2004 12:11 PM

All looks great and works together. Not so sure about the shadow of the house... its correct I guess but the tree shadow is cool as its not just a block of shade but detailed shadow and then the house doesn't look as good as just a block of shade, but oh well :)

Ah yes well I have made the shadow smaller and Ill change it some more in a little while. Ive desided to only have about 20 mini plants for now maybe more later. I am going to redo the stump as I'm getting complaints about it. Here is the outline so far.

I didn't offer, you only assumed I offered... I just asked questions about your server, and when you asked why I was asking you, I said I might offer... then you said no thanks, so I didn;t bother
:P
you didn't have enough scripts for me to even offer anyways, and our gfx would have just conflicted.
