How to save Graal Kingdoms
Graal kingdoms can be so much better then it is now. A man i know that goes by the name ghost pirate has some great ideas.
-Story line Graal Kingdoms: Call of Vengence Chapter I: Aftermath Several months has passed since the bomys invaded the mainland of Graal, with their coming marked a time of war between both the graalians and the bomys. During these times of strife the people of Graal called upon divine and arcane magic to fight their foes, bringing forth gods to pleadge their services to. The kingdoms soon fought among each other for control of the known world aswell as fight against the bomy invaders that posioned the lands. As time passed the lords of the kingdoms knew that a continued war against each other would denote the end of the Graalian race, they slowly started forming makeshift alliances with each other hoping to hinder the bomy threat while preparing their wounded kingdoms for a possiable break in the alliance. -Additions *100+ craftable items with my ideas on Graal Kingdoms new crafting system *Full PVP *Town Guards * A Commoner's Guild for people who don't want to join a kingdom. Commoner's Guild is NPC/Admin run *New Gods and Deity system which makes the DM/Admins/GMs gods, Temples/Churches for each, Bonuses for Worshipping a god *No more Multiclassing *Removing the Alchemist Class for A Druid Class *New Class Abilties, New Skills and revamp of old skill *Removal of the IWD and enchantment on weapons *New Item system that has requirements and makes each weapon useful nomatter the damage *Level Limit of 30 *5 or so Preistage Classes that players can choose at level 20 *Rework the magic system *New spells and revamps of old spells *ntroduce a strong roleplaying enviroment with a evolving storyline *A new fresh storyline that takes place after the bomy invasion * Lettace system for capturing islands and towns, More interactive enviroments *Introduce a strong roleplaying enviroment with a evolving storyline *New Races and more this is just some of the ideas Ghost Pirate has swirling around in his head. and this is why i sugjest that ghost pirate should be made the DM/GM of graal kingdoms. |
That isn't even half of his ideas, he has talked to me for hours about them not long ago. I think he would be great as a GM/DM
|
No offense, but you'd be better off making that into a new server than trying to implement those changes into Graal Kingdoms. Or go play a game that already has systems like that. >.> A proposal like that is basically a complete overhaul of the entire Kingdoms setup. Setting a level cap at 30 would mean everything would have to be reset, since you have players currently over level 30, (which also pulls the reset/no reset topic back into the spotlight). I'm not too fond of multiclassing being disallowed, since it really results in less diversity and you just end up with stereotypical classes. Weak Mages, Strong Fighters, Etc. Who's to say that you can't be born with an innate attunement to the elements and magical forces, and still learn how to use a sword? Or that a knight can't start to study the forces of magic at all?
|
I completely agree with Shawn. Also, while there are powergamers who level for leveling's sake, there are also players just trying to have fun and rp, who still are above level 30 - I don't see how such a limit should improve anything - it'd only destroy some fun, because if you can't become any better, what's the point in trying? I'm not referring to powergaming, but in fact I do like the fact that I get a little better for killing some monsters, not to make the whole thing pointless.
|
I will say that i like those ideas (as i thought with the other two being high levels there was a slight bias), and i agree that GP would make a decent GM if he wanted it
|
For now, I don't think anyone should have the rights a DM has. We have EMs, I don't see the need for people with more powers for the same purpose.
|
Stefan is much too busy with 3.1 and stuffs too make something like that.
Stefan is taking too much on his shoulders but thats only my opinion. |

Giving one person complete control over how the server will progress forward is always a bad idea. There are too many people who would take what's there, and completely rework it into what they think is perfect, regardless of what the ideas of the people are. I think the direction and progress of the Kingdoms server should be delegated by a team of people, and not just one person.
Many of the ideas are very ambitious, but to quote Douglas Adams: Quote:

I must agree with Geno, there should be improvements to Kingdoms. It is getting to boring and the storyline quite frankly... isn't good. The quests are almost pointless once you become a elite player like NyChris and such. The game becomes boring and the story that once may of held your attention now is shallow and you only come on to PK people or to converse with your online friends. If someone was to improve Kingdoms, there would be a radical increase in new members and Kingdoms could even rival Ragnarok Online, which has a great story line and battling system.

@Shawn: Ah, my favorite quote... |
Ghost Pirate hasn't been here for a while, he can't assume removing IWDs and such suggestions on weapons would make things balanced or so. This stuff would also require alot of work and isn't even a sure success. Reading through this stufff some more, lv limit of 30? What the hell, I can reach lv30 in a day. I plan on making a DETAILED system that is actually _POSSIBLE_ for GK that can probably be done in one weekend if all the staff co-operate.
|
I think the main "flaw" of GK isn't as much the system, as it is a group of players dedicated to "pwning", pking and scamming. As long as there isn't a majority who actualy tried to rp, nothing will change, no matter the system. Removing IWDs won't change a thing about that - even make it worse, as strong monsters would only be avaliable for those with a high physique, making them even stronger. I think making mith and some good bracers craftable would bring more balance than removing IWDs and such. Not that I think that'd be the master solution. My point is that if the players don't change, nothing will.
@Chris: I'd love to contribute to that, or just comment it with my famous sheep-atitude. So, if possible... I'm afaliable. |
And its the currency of bugs, unfair alchemy items, and missing admins.

Also, what can admins do? "Rp or I'll ban you?" I don't see a point in that. While more admins wouldn't make things worse, and improve stuff here and there, they can't change the majority of players. |
I think pms should be removed.

1) Half the server doesnt rp (if that was the reason to take off pm's) and 2) People like to communicate wiht their friends and mass things out. |

All in all:  |
Than why the **** to do you cuss about making it better if you dont even want it to be rp.
+ where is icq for? |
Those ideas are very good, and i'm sure they would increase the playercount, and roleplaying in Graal Kingdoms.
If such a person exists, who can turn current Graal Kingdoms into what Geno posted, i'm sure he should be hired. |

Also, I'm not cussing. Why do you? I want rping improved on GK, and I do rp myself, but I like to think things through from different points of view, and I gave my opinion on your proposal. |

Try levelling up normally without them. You'll actually find that (like it used to be), it's actually pretty hard. |
One setting, as is used in many other games, would be to have multiple instances of the same server, but with different rules.
One could be a PK server, where above level 5 or something, you could be PKed (in short, no peaceful mode options). Another could be your basic server where anyone is welcome, and some basic rules are set out. The last could be a roleplay server, and stictly roleplay. If you do not follow the rules of the server, you could be suspended from play for a day or two on the first offense. The second offense for a week or more. And the last offense, permanently. |
rp action:
you write it like, hmm iam bored lets play 5 minutes rp. |

As for removing the PM's, I agree that it would be an utterly stupid thing to do. As stated, Graal is as much about socialization as it is about Roleplaying. That's why in any online RP setting, there is room made for OOC comments, because sometimes you just want to relax and talk to people instead of staying in character all the time. As long as you make a distinction between IC and OOC and you aren't causing problems for others trying to RP it shouldn't really matter. Also, if you don't like PM's, don't answer them. Set Mass Messages to off, ignore toalls, and don't open your playerlist. Problem Solved. |
Ok, uhh, @ Chris being upset about lvl 30 cap, maybe if you could reach level 30 for each class rank you could reach, i.e. a Warrior could become a Knight at level 15, but you could continue to be a warrior until 30 for maximum stats then become a Knight, which would restart you at lvl 1 with all your stuff, so-on so forth and then you could restart the whole, leveling up thing but itd somehow be harder (i.e. exp bonus' cut in half or soemthing)
o_O At any rate, problem with GK.... uhh, is GK... hah, yeah, the server itself is trash now :o SOOO many illegal items, and illegaly clad people, and nothing done about it... plus, the corrupt people somehow "cant be found" and nobody knows how their are so many warhammers when like, a month ago there were half of that, and no events to give any away.. heh, abit fishy eh? Anywhom, GK = poo, GP = make GK cool :) |

But its right that gp would be usefull!
Most of the players behave very badly, pk for no reason and stuffs. But to reach rp its necassary that all people get to know that the fun is not based on having cool rare or exquisite items, but to have fun while rping and playing kingdoms with friends. |

One could always setup a new GK server, add strict RP rules, and set up a slightly different system of items so powergaming isn't possible. Or you can do like they did on CF, every PK is luck-1 forever. Doesn't directly harm your char, but if you do it constantly you'll suffer :P It sure stopped killing there.
|
Class = make it harder to level, but has better skills and feats etc. but would be weaker if player chose to advance right as he reached the required level so itd make it abit more, intigrated i spose is the word... guess your just not open to the idea ;o
|
It's my worthless opinion that...
Yeah, its mostly the people on GK that are destroying it, not the lack of content or items or whatever the heck you want to insert in the blank. the majority of the players are powerplayers and their poser buddies who wish they could be "l337 pwners" too. And so these people go around making it hard for others to gain items (because they hoard them all for themselves ;) ) and just generally create a sour, competetive and dull atmosphere where you can sit there and get PKed or try and be one of their lackeys. There isn't really a way to solve this; as satrek said, you can't just kick out all the PKers and non-RPers (Although i'd really really love to :'( ). Because of this, i reckon the level cap or the IWD removal thing doesnt sound like too much of a bad idea (although they're a little farfetched), because, think about it, you can strive to get to lvl30 (which, btw, is hard for the average player, chris...its taken me like two months to get to lvl23, and the same if not longer for a lot of other players who dont have powerplayer friends or already have sweet items that they have after resetting their character (Not saying you do personally though since i dont know anything about you)). Once at lvl30, you can go two ways:
-You can go "right, im going to be lazy and just PK others". this wouldnt be so bad because if the lvlcap is 30, then you aren't going to be massively more powerful than anyone else (due to hp restrictions and such) and so others have a chance of killing you too. -You can go "Ok, i'm going to use the full potential of this server and try to fulfil it's real purpose, which is to help support and be a part of a fun, challenging and exciting roleplaying community. I'll get enjoyment out of roleplaying, and from others roleplaying, instead of leeching out enjoyment from other players by causing them misery! I'll teach more how to roleplay so that i can have even more fun myself!". HMMM, I WONDER WHICH IS THE BETTER OPTION??!"?!?"1"?!?£!?2?1?"?/!/1/2/!?"?!?" ;) Another option, which is a crazy idea of my own, would be to introduce a system where you can still level up, but levelling up won't increase your strength (either at all, or past a point like lvl30). This'd mean that those who play to level would still be able to do so, and could compete with each other to get the highest level and stuff, but it wouldnt mean that they have a godly advantage over low level players and couldnt spoil it for them. The right honourable gentleman could say that this is bad because if you dont get stronger, how are you supposed to beat stronger monsters to get more experience? The answer to this is simple: dont have stronger monsters. Instead, you have monsters that are different from the others, and put them in dungeons and stuff that you can only access once you are at a certain level. the monsters in these areas would give more experience... You could say "well, hold on, this'd mean its boring; there's no challenge in fighting monsters anymore". The answer to this is simple too. There isnt any challenge in killing really powerful monsters for you guys anyway. Killing brutal worms is as easy for you as killing battle mushrooms is to a level ten player with a bile+2 weapon. I've probably blathered on for too long, and dont make any sense, but if you can decipher something from that, the feedback would be apreciated. Now im gunna go get some sleep. *slumps off, muttering curses about school* |
Graal needs somebody to create a anti-game hack.. so nobody could create a hack, trainer, or take hexcode and abuse it.
we need those underdog classes, like the blackbelt from FF1... it's average in the beginning, but once it levels up and becomes a ninja, it's the best thing since sliced bread (hey, that'd be something in graal! you could slice your bread into a certain amount of pieces. each piece would be like... say you had 25 pieces, each slice would have 10 food. that way, you could eat and get your total food all the way to 999 somewhat quickly without wasting food. also, the specialty breads would be knocked down a bit power wise (good for beginners so they can have that type of bread last them a bit instead of them instantly losing it... so they could have slices of a bread of pep and use a portion of that and it would last them more)) also, we need to be able to build house additions. we could have like the main room a store, then one side room a storage room and another your bedroom... signs would be cool, so you could put say the family name over your house. Like say I still had Ivelios Naìlo, the sign would say "Naìlo" on it another thing could be houses on main... there's TONS of space there... and there are those that want a place just to dump all their items *cough*me-in-june*cough* also, a bridge system. you could only build them in certain locations, but it would allow you to travel over the water quicker (and without having to press the [S] key) and it would be better than the ferrys. it would also allow more of a land war, where you could march an army across main and avoid the threat of the Pirates sinking them in a ship... __..._..........__...... .|...|.).|...|...|....|_| .|...|.\..\_/|..|....|..| |
Hmmm...
I dunno but ghost would be good at fixing up kingdoms, atleast better then anyone else around at this point in time... He was ALOT of ideas and such, but I doubt it would ever happen...
Also with the bridge idea, they would block boats in the water way, and also make a mess, like the rails did on 2k1.... |
