Graal 3.01 for Mac + Linux + Windows

Graal v3.01 has been released! There are new versions for Mac, Linux and Windows. Many bugs have been removed, and several little things have been added. Also the Mac version can now be played by all players, not just VIP!

- when using the mill and well on Graal Kingdom the game doesn't crash anymore
- ships are visible now, also the steering man is displayed correctly
- when selecting another language in the starting window then the options window etc. have text now (english text instead of being empty)
- you can connect to private servers by typing a part of the name of a private server in the box under the server list, then pressing <return>
- pushing and pulling stones on classic servers work
- when walking diagonal you don't see messed up tiles rectangles anymore
- a bug with the textwidth() function has been fixed, a new function textheight(zoom, font, styles) has been added
- server-side tiles-editing on gmaps is supported now - the client displays the changed tiles when a server-side script changes tiles and does the command updateboard; saving of the tiles will be added soon

Download it at
http://www.graalonline.com/downloads/index.php

If your Graal always freezes when you login, try to delete the weblevels subfolder of the Graal folder (on Mac: /Applications/Graal/weblevels). When you login for the first time then it's normal though that it is slowing down a little bit because it needs to download several graphics, animations and sounds.

While we appreciate your enthusiasm on Graal Mac, what about Graal 3.0 for Windows? Not to sound rude, or anything.

protagonist 06-28-2003 04:09 AM

I think he got the hardest done first, the rest will be easy.

v3.0 has been released for Windows several weeks ago, when you start setup.exe you can select it under the developer packages. It's currently in beta phase, and like I said v3.01 will be released for windows this weekend (i.e. 1 or 2 days).

I am aware of the "beta" version of it. However, I did not see the post regarding its full release. Good work then, if it is to be released soon.

:( I dont have VIP
when will the final version be out?

G_yoshi 06-28-2003 04:56 AM

I like Graal 3.0 :) When's the editor going to be added? Or is it going to be stand-alone?

DragonX 06-28-2003 05:27 AM

I dislike 3.0 right now, too many bugs x.x I'd rather use 2.9 to play on Graal kingdoms.

I agree. I hate the handling, or lack thereof, that v3.0 has with the playlist - among other things.

davidpsy 06-28-2003 08:24 AM

I just dident download the new graal 3.0 because of all the bugs I kept hearing about.

unixmad 06-28-2003 08:26 AM

Graal 3.0

Rome have not been build in 1 day !

Graal 3.0 is a complete rewriting, so it take lot of time to finish and debug.

We don't have a staff of dedicated tester so if you want to help, play with it and report bugs on http://support.graalonline.com

Thanks.

ASouthernMan 06-28-2003 09:17 AM

unixmad, that's a weird simile.

A better one would of been

"Hell was not created when Earth was"

;)

I think the release this weekend (Windows 3.01) will be playable by not just VIP, as the MAC one is, so hopefully 1-2days =)

Well, Unix said it will only be for VIP members, and he said it will take alot of time to finish it, oh well for me :)

Bah. Graal 3.0 for Windows isn't that great anyway. It's really good for Linux because before you couldn't even play it online on Linux... The Windows one is horribly buggy, features are limited, etc. I just use 2.19 because it's a lot smoother.

Never thought I'd see the day when you were giving English lessons.

I'm upgrading to 3.0 now. o_O

Milkdude99 06-29-2003 12:16 AM

I've used the 3.0 beta , it takes some getting used to. You really don't see much change on the classic servers when you use it other than the GUI. Looks nice and all but I find it rather annoying, prolly because I am not used to it.

Admins 06-29-2003 02:07 AM

3.01 for Linux and Windows have been released too. It is mainly a bug fix release, soon there will also be new scripting (accessing the GUI) and graphical things.

I see this hasn't been fixed :/
it's one of the more glaring bugs...

Golbez 06-29-2003 03:26 AM

It would be nice if it was for Gold and VIP but nuuu you guys hate us golden people :(

MNG is broken too.

Well, I already reported that on the GraalDesk support thing.

protagonist 06-29-2003 03:44 AM

Is the editor available with this one?

No visible ways of accessing it, F4 does not work. So I assume no.

It wasn't even remotely a simile. Learn your grammar son. A simile is an expression that compares two unlike things using like or as. Not only did the expression not use like or as, it did not even compare two unlike things.

Neonight 06-29-2003 06:29 AM

Hmm... Now that I think of it, it'd make sense if the Gold people got the new releases, considering we pay more than the VIP members. x.x;;

superb 06-29-2003 08:23 AM

You pay more because you get Graal Kingdoms. Apparently it is more valuable than beta testing, forums, and a vip tag.

Well I never even play Kingdoms, so its useless to me but VIP wasnt open at the time so when my Gold runs out I might get a VIP account. I think Gold members should have something other then Graal Kingdoms :( Even a tag that says (Gold Member) or something lol

It is out.
v3preview at the bottom.

Nitkizi 06-29-2003 11:14 PM

Yeah, its buggy as hell for me. It lags really bad, most of the graphics have big, black squares around them, and the text everywhere is messed.

Open the setup, keep clicking next until you get the list of what to download. At the bottom under developer, you can choose the v3 preview.

You need a VIP account to use it online, though. :(

X_x unix you have bad grammar and for those who are still confused about similies what unix said was a metaphor comparing graal's development to the construction of the roman empire

*Literature lesson Closed*

I'd say not to mind it, seeing as English isn't his first language.

Nitkizi 06-30-2003 07:06 PM

Actually, it was just a figure of speech...It would be a simile if he said something like,"Graal like Rome wasn't built in a day!" But..meh.

That's common sense. No need to tell us.
