Different Graphics for special rings?
 

Well, at the moment, all rings look alike, whether it's a Ring of Speed +1, or the coveted Ring of Fighting. So, I was thinking I'd try to make alternate graphics for the rare rings, like maybe a ring with a feather design (signifying speed) for a Ring of Thieves, or just give them different gems or something.
Unfortunately, I don't know all the different rare rings, so if anyone can tell me some of them, it'd be greatly appreciated.
Oh, and if you have any rings designed, feel free to post them. Just trying to get some variety in the graphics is all, (and perhaps make rings easier to identify. Think of it this way, if a Ring of Fighting looks different from every other ring, then you can't get tricked into getting a different ring instead when you buy it from someone.)

I think every item needs a different graphic every single item.. and don't say oooh thats a lot of work ooohh your stupid for saying that.. durrr

cuz I would do it it's not that hard they are like the size of a m&m it takes like 10 minutes to make an l33t one.

I agree, if someone would kindly post a list of Rings they feel need new GFX and perhaps any ideas you have on them i shall create some right away

Hmm, sounds good. I'll probably start tomorrow. These are the kinds of ways that I waste my time between classes at college. ^.^;

Heh, for the Ring Of Ancient Magic, I thought it should look like a tanish stone ring, soem cracks on itwith small vines around it, and a green gem.

Now, the cracks resemble age, since its "Ancient," and I just thought the vines fit in. Now, the picture sucks imo and its just a example of what I feel it should look like. (Don't rant me out because of the crappy job :P)

not bad, could do with perhaps a little more colour but seeing as how it is ancient it doesn't need it :)

But, my horrible graphic wouldn't do, so we need someone with skill to come by, and make one, lol.

Darker colors, some more colors added to the ring part.

The original rings that dont have there own name like Ring (Speed +1) will use the same graphic. The ones like Ring of (Rats) or somehting get there own graphic.

No special FX for the rings. Just add a little diamond in the middle and for each ring just change the diamonds color.
Except the Ring (+) rings they stay same gfx since they are plain.

Why put a diamond when you could make the whole item look better?

for the ring of speed make it out of joints shaped like >'s around in a circle

I was thinking more like the color of sand... oh wait your saving this as a bmp... your using paintbrush to make this stuff arn't you? I thought I recognized the standard computer color set(matches the qbasic palletes=D)

nice rings, i was thinking for ring of speed simply cutting an image of winged boots into the diamond

1.) DO NOT POST BITMAPS
2.) Little or no shading
3.) Most of them are crap.

And the blur thing wont work.. have you ever heard of transperancy? Have you ever tried to make something blurred transparent?

RoAM is the only good one.. Arcadius did a nice recolor of AlexH's original design but the rest suck.

I went ahead and recolored the above "Zormite Ring" to make it look less...MS Painty. Although, I doubt an effect like that would ever be a ring, because A ring of Speed +1 already raises your speed in the water.

Thats an excellent ring for the Dark Priest, your RoM is kinda iffy though...

Yeah, it was supposed to be colored bands around it, but I kinda screwed up.

the ring of magic needs something between those jewels... the dark whatever ring needs to jewl to be brighter(I woulda loved a glowing quality to it), you darkened the zormite rings color instead of making it lighter which I wouldn't mind except everything else for zormites is in bright colors=/ its still good

Zormite needs a shield, armor, helmet, boots, gaunlets, daggers, and cauldrons now.. ^-^

I jsut took the shell img, rotated it, shrunk it, and fixed up the pixels a bit -_-

that is not a valid bmp file... and what have we said about bmp anyways?
