Pathetic Excuses

Everyone who claims to be an oldbie but isn;t has some sort of excuse for nto answering your question about old Graal, or has an excuse for getting the question wrong. Most the most pathetic ones that you know.

"I quit for like a year"

"You might not know me, I had like 1000 screen names"

AlexH 01-05-2003 03:11 AM

I used to be Link back in 1.1.
Remember me? ;)

No not that Link.
I was the other Link silly.

Mista_Micro 01-05-2003 03:12 AM

and the point of this thread is?

BlKnight 01-05-2003 03:24 AM

And the points of most threads on this forum are?

Googi 01-05-2003 03:29 AM

The solution - Just don't ask people how long they've been playing Graal.

BlKnight 01-05-2003 03:42 AM

Well, it is pretty hard to avoid asking them when they think they are being cool when they mass "Oh **** you newbies are so stupid, when I started in 1.1 there were so few of you stupid little kids" and such.

AlkarenHyralt 01-05-2003 03:47 AM

I'm not an oldbie... I think.

tlf288 01-05-2003 04:39 AM

I think I atleast qualifie as a midbie :)

Kuza 01-05-2003 05:57 AM

I am not an oldbie compared to a lot of people. I don't seek anyone's approval or wish to meet any expectations, other than my own. :)

magicbud3344 01-05-2003 06:11 AM

I agree with you there. If they think there so cool I would like to know what it was like back then.

Tseng 01-05-2003 07:16 AM

I'm a newbie. I started playing graal around March 2002.

HoudiniMan 01-05-2003 07:50 AM

<--newb

I don't remember when i started playing, because it wasn't important... but i do remember when i started to feel like i knew what i was doing on graal... then G2k1 got released and their scripters scared me with such things! Now i can make those too ^_^

I guess i'm and old midbie?

_0AfTeRsHoCk0_ 01-05-2003 07:54 AM

I seriously find it scary and odd that people actually remember what version they began playing in. It's like... they knew they were going to play graal forever or something. My brain has more uses other than remembering what version I started in.

TifaKhan 01-05-2003 01:49 PM

I have no idea what version i started on.
I was 13, my bro used to play, and showed me how to send mass messages, etc.
I played on Classic for about a year, back when you could reset your account yourself, i reset mine a heap of times out of sheer boredom, then would get everything all over again, including things like Panda Wine and other items you cant get anymore.
I wont tell you what account or someone might spot them and delete them :D
I was Sunny Rose back then, or Crystal, i didnt have too many names, and i dont remember a lot of people as i played on and off over the years.
After that i went to UN then Doomsday shortly after it opened, and here i have stayed.
Theres still a few around from my times back then, i met one, someone who works on Doomsday and still hates me , but he does his job so it doesnt bother me. After all, its a game, not a way of life.
btw who was that girl on Classic who called herself Queen of Graal?
I used to have great arguements with her.

lol, good point. :p

Anyway, I think I'm an oldbie, since I started playing graal 4 years and a half ago when there was only Classic server to play and there was like 230 people and you had to choose your body in the gray window of Graal: it was like, Zoraas, NeoKnight, Judge and etc...

August or September 2000.

1.4, I think...

Googi 01-05-2003 08:34 PM

What makes people who have been playing for a long time better than everyone else anyways?

Spark910 01-05-2003 08:59 PM

I see no point in these threads, I know alot of what would be seen an ''****ie'' compared to those who think they are ''oldbies'' who are 500% better than the Oldbie. All it is, is a competition, you have to be an oldbie or youa ren't cool. its just a small form of bullying, and Like I said most oldbies on here are ut smartned by alot of the new people becuase they never took the time to learn to script or make levels or do anything other than play. And so I dont see the point as you dont get anything out of it other than playing graal earlier than a newer person.

I dont know this (As Im not an ''oldbie'' therefor I know jackS__t about Graal) but are these oldbies? I bet most arent:

Kai - Good Scripters
Nem - GM
Koni - Ex GM

I bet some have been playing before Unix (I dont know if thats possible but Im not an Oldbie) but hes doing better job wise than any of you on graal.

There is no point in these threads at all than to lure other Oldbies to slag off or to boast to people who haven't played as long of how much ''better'' they are. But you aren't any better than newer people its not time that makes you better but you being commited that makes you better...um..yeah!

tlf288 01-05-2003 11:04 PM

I started graal when I was 10. I am 14 now. I used the account Frog. If you for some reason don't believe then sorry. I think I was somewhere around the 100-200th account registered to graal.

I just got the Frog account back rom Lyndzey because I forgot my email after never using it and Lyndzey told me the email and I got the account back.

I have to agree with what googi said.

Birdbird_0 01-06-2003 12:06 AM

Am I an oldbie?

This is my third year playing
Two have passed already.

melissa1988 01-06-2003 12:11 AM

Well all I know is I was around BEFORE accounts were even available, but who cares anyway?

Sir Pickles

I think being an newbie/oldbie/midbie is more about how you act then how long you've been playing.

MrCharles 01-06-2003 02:19 AM

Im just guessing Ive been playing for about 2 years. First I have to find out how old the account flabbyman is.......

tlf288 01-06-2003 02:25 AM

Ask Lyndzey

Everytime I have emailed her I get a responce within 3-6 hours. She is the quickest staff person ever. She is really dedicated...

Brad 01-06-2003 02:47 AM

I been playing 3 years and like a few months. I hate versions since I dunno. I like had to pick my class in the beginning or something? Thief,Judge,Zora, etc. I never knew what I was doing >;]

funnylinkwantsbomys 01-06-2003 03:20 AM

I started about 3 1/2 years ago....my friend told me about iit and he says "ARE YOU STILL PLAYING GRAAL?! OH MY GOD!" lol

Jeff 01-06-2003 03:58 AM

Googi:

Incorrect. Though I'd say experience is a factor, an idiot who has played for 2 years is an oldbie...and I'd qualify Tseng as a midbie though he hasn't had a year with us yet.

funnylinkwantsbomys 01-06-2003 04:39 AM

what would you classify me as? :D

I think were all still thinking...

cloudstrifevii 01-06-2003 05:08 AM

I started when I was in 5th grade near the beginning of the school year. I always remember that because i made one of my very good friends around that time and he told me about graal. He told me not to play classic beacuse it sucked or something and too only play npulse so I have never spent more than 1 hour on classic sadly =(. That was back when there were only 3 pw's. Npulse, Classic, and some Portugese or other foreign language server. *sigh* I remember the old days on npulse. So so so much fun. They tried to bring it back after geo made the new npulse and i respect moon goddess and moon god for doing that but its not the same :(

HoudiniMan 01-06-2003 05:47 AM

I started when you had to pick your guy but they had like 12 and one was lunar or something close but he wouldn't work so i had to be fung si yan and if you wanted to play 1 player (online) 2,3,4 player and then you started in a little cave thing with stefan there and a GP who i can't rememeber... i think his nick was "Kain (GP)" but i'm just guessing... I actually remember my first thought in graal... "why is there water only by my feet on this ground?"

4 years ago--->30 or so people on.

I started before accounts like Pickles. Saves were horrible because we could edit our flags and just keep unsetting the heart flag. That way we could get a heart over and over again until we had 20.

Considering there's no exact definition for an "oldbie," no one should be classified as one. Nevertheless, I wouldn't care if someone has been playing since the start of Graal or has just joined today.
