Babylon = New Ownership
 

Lord Helmut quit Graal earlier today, deleted it and everything. :(
Well I still will help him with his fto project, so he didnt disappear totally, just left graal. I, Zen, am the owner of Babylon as of now and Coolnick will be co-owner in accordance to LH's wishes.

I'm thinking of seriously redoing some stuff, and I willl have some sort of memorial uploaded to LH heh.

One idea which seems to make alot of sense is not using the 'gralat'. Babylon is a free server and is therefore not immuned as well to hacking like the p2ps are. A big problem is that people would hack money, and that messes up the balance and our economy i guess in a sense. What I sorta want to do is use a string and give it a value for our currency, which would render the gralat worthless and would stop a majority of the problems in that area i think...

I have a really really really big idea that would like redefine Babylon partly, but omg it would almost mean redoing the server lol. So right now im just keeping it in my head. I'll try and get a good discussion with existing staff here soon, and see what everybody thinks about what direction Babylon should head. I'm going to try and be very perceptive to public opinion, more so than my predecessor.

I prefer optomistic replies, but anything goes; what do you guys think about all this?

Well i'm not too much into scipting and all but it would be pretty neat if the Gralats were gotten rid of completely and make some money and then you do some scripts like

Well I understand that not everybody will be happy with such a change, but alot of others werent happy with how it was...I'll try to build back up Babylon's reputation lol.

I think LH you were a great owner and what copying? And who was telling you that your were bad, the players? Lets see them create a PW that doesnt emphasize Player Killing and watch what people say to them. Man LH its a shame that your leaving and Babylon had a good reputation for its creativity like the kuros and the Bosses and hunting for instance and since several of the PW went down friday people flooded to our server and kept saying "man this is a great PW why arent there more people?". In any case i'll miss you LH as the co-owner of Babylon. That and im steamed about not "needing" the armor project done anymore.

Still get it done I will upload it once it is finished. We need some new stuff up on Babylon.

I will still come on RC and stuff. I may still help out some because im keeping my rights and stuff. After all, I did make almost everything level wise and a lot of scripts and stuff on there :) Im leaving graal pretty much altogther but I may just hang around on Babylon seeing as how that was my world for me to go and be happy until i got crap so often :(

oh yea, I finished the playerhouse script so players can save there money and stuff. I may go ahead and finish the rent system and stuff too. Seeing as how Zen wants to delete everyone I made (if i understand correctly) I guess I will just give away my stuff to playerworlds that have potential and want it

Could I still have some stuff tested like we were talkin on aim?:( I tried to limit the filesize on the pharnmer but never could get it. I'll be making some new sound effects soon with this new prog i got.;)

But the Armor is going to be a quest and you'll have to travel to differnt corners of the Babylon to collect the peices (Gotta Collect Them All, I KNOW ITS DIFFERNT) and then once completed you'll be able to wear the armor of your choosing.

-edit- i agree with what your saying about babylon, i want to keep it the same too but im determined to stick with Babylon till the end so i going with zen. The major problem is that Xaviar is never going to be on graal till his grades improve and who knows how long that'll take and Zen needs his scripting abilities to make the games but hes not on so i have no idea whats his contingency plan is.

Xaviar quit. Im with Babylon till the end to but sence I am Game Master and even if I wasnt I say what I think Zen wont fire you for saying that you dont like the idea if he did that would be just ***.... But people just agreeded to try and get promoted =/

I never got promoted, hmmm i guess its because i said all Zens ideas reminded me of Chucky Cheese and Disney world (mostly because the only part he explained to me was teh game part and nothing else).

Sounds like Babylon is about to go down the same road Sanstrata went down if you dont get things sorted

Well everybody was really hyped up about Babylon before it went up and I believe for a while after it went up.

I didnt mean it wasnt needed, I just meant that as of right now we should hold off on that (server is down anyways), besides you were ok with it in your post....dont be dishonest dude, if you got something to say then just say it.

All I can say is that at the meeting we had I threw out some ideas, and I said that I wouldnt go along with any of them unless i had support from the staff. Everybody else was welcome to say what they had in mind to, I was tyring to be very open. Only Ion disagreed with me and I was perfectly fine with that. I asked him what he thought should be done also. Dude LH I dont know where your getting your info lol, talk to me on AIM whenever you see me on.

I dont understand, you were telling everybody you were probably gonna quit in like 3 weeks or something. I was encouraging everybody to speak even if they disagreed man...I was trying to be the opposite of what your making me out to be. Carnage asked me a little bit ago if I disliked him, and then went on to say to just fire him now if I was planning on it. I told him that liking him or disliking him has nothing to do with working on a server, that liking a person isnt a factor when hiring them so it shouldnt be a factor when considering termination. I dont want people sneaking around saying **** behind my back, I'd much rather you told me what you think is wrong to my face instead of judging me like so and i wont fire you for it, I've been in charge a whole 3 hours of Babylon's online time or something. And about that promoting thing, I wont promote anybody for kissing my ass. I would much rather you guys spoke the truth to me, what if I go along with something because you guys said you liked it but really didnt? The players probably wouldnt like it for the most part either, so i need honesty. Besides I think I have already stated that I dont want to promote/hire/fire anybody untill I can get accurate information on current status and we get the ball rolling some.

Whoa there, its not that bad. We just have alot of confusion right now and misunderstandings *sigh* The problems that people are expressing on this thread for the most part is not deeply rooted. (cant really think of anything that is deeply rooted, I just didnt want to rule it out incase I forgot something)

1) I duno i mean i was working really hard on it and then it was stopped but meh i guess i can live with that (im so melow, THE IMPORTANT THING IS www.megatokyo.com)

2) I like the current theme for Babylon and that all it needs is some more stuff (quests, weapons, Wars) it would be cool if you had some warp at Cenrtal1.graal or some other level that would send players to the world that you imagined Zen. That way we can have the best of both worlds and everyones happy. And the only thing i remeber from our conversation was saying that the ideas that you told me reminded me of Chucky Cheese (like i said in the conversation) other wise theres a big blank in my head from that day.

I was only gonna quit cause I felt that **** was gonna go down hill then I thought and decided to go ahead with my idea by myself and try and update Babylon so more people would play maby Cortez will help me then my towns would go faster maby 2 a week or so..

Try to understand that your project is not dead. I just said to hold off on it because I had just became owner and I needed to compile a database of info that I'd need to run things better. See I was just GFX-Admin, I wasnt aware of 'everything' that was going on. I didnt kill your project, I just put it on hold along with everything else.

To Ion:
Whatever your planning on doing, I need to be aware of it beforehand so it can be approved. I'm gonna IM you when I'm done with this so I'll talk to you there.

I dont know why everybody is thinking this, but I am not gonna delete everything LOL. The idea that I came up with had majority of staff's approval, so I will work toward getting that made. Realize that its a big project and I'm not even going to start to implement it untill a ways down the road. Laphromi hit very close to home base, I was planning on just adding a warp somewhere that would send the player to some point on a whole SEPERATE map that would house a test version of all the stuff I had in mind. From there I would decide what do do with it, depending on how the players respond ect. Again, that stage wouldnt even come to pass for a long while. I will for sure replace the gralat with something else though. And about the playerhouses, I wasnt going to get rid of them, I simply had in mind using a more sensable form.

im considering kinda staying...like being owner ALONG with zen as in...he makes most decisions and management and im there for side help. I kinda miss that world already and I guess people would bug him instead of me if hes main one in charge :) I will talk to him about it

No, I haven't quit, I'm just grounded for a while...

I'm also wondering what's gonna happen to me when I do get back...I'm kind of afraid of being overwhelmed....Of course..Sounds like most people have forgotten about me, so maybe I will quit (Babylon), and get started on my 'pet' project...Which is going to be really cool, but is going to require a lot of work...Well..mostly I just posted this to say no, I haven't quit.
