klayton/Ammo Prices

Klayton must be the least collaborative staff member yet to be recruited by the staff team (and it's not easy). I asked him why GP ammo is less expensive than AM ammo at the spar complex and he replied: "there's a reason for it but i won't tell you".
It's not only this incident that showed me Klayton's incompetence, in fact he rarely answers PMs (although he's a PR and he should check on hack/glitch reports).
Anyways, could anyone enlighten me on why ammo at the spar complex has different prices? Did some staff member get corrupted, abusive or is it simply (most likely) a mistake? I've PMed several staff members but none have replied, I had to go to the same level as Klayton was in, just to recieve a dumb answer.

Klayton is great, he's been working on a ton of stuff (including the new outbreak, yes?) and is all around a pretty awesome dude.

Why are you asking someone who isn't a highadmin a question about businesses, anyway? If I were (still?) a PR and someone asked me a question that wasn't in my jurisdiction, I'd assume saying 'so-and-so is who you need to talk to' would get me just as many negative results as a silly answer. I'd make jokes, too.

To answer your question..I did that a long time ago when I was undercutting all of Scrimps' prices. He was too much of an idiot to notice. If you can get them to change mine (up) to yours, I would prefer that to downing the price to my level, since this is how we approached the disparity in store prices

bloodykiller 10-19-2012 12:45 AM

the spar complex prices (in my case) are higher than the normal ammo mart and gunpoint prices.
btw klayton is house admin and has level rights, and he wasn't trolling he was just being bossy

They're supposed to be higher by a dollar or two.

bloodykiller 10-19-2012 01:18 AM

oh..yours are 6, 6, 7, 8 and mine are 7, 7, 8, 9
idc what the prices are honestly..as long as GP and AM prices are equal

shrimps 10-19-2012 01:19 AM

They were 1 $ higher originally as a "convenience fee" I suppose you could call it. But instead of bringing stuff up here ever...single...time... why not try to ask Zach, Blue or even Jem? You know, the people who are in charge of that stuff.

Fix what? The prices?
No, I'm not the GBA. I don't decide how these businesses are balanced. :o

it's not a balance issue, but ok be lazy.

Supaman771 10-19-2012 04:25 AM

Rogue 4 ruler of Era.

I will ensure all ammo prices are balanced, and do a bunch of other useless stuff as a front for my surely illegal actions and probably horrible managerial term.

ie. nothing will change

you guys never answer pms, you could just answer "i'm busy, ask me later/tomorrow"
unless u have problems with ur fingers that would only take out 5-10seconds of ur busy day

The way you ask for help is, well, simply annoying. In fact, I would purposely ignore you until you decided to rephrase your request for help to be a little more polite.

Maybe try being more polite about how you ask for help.

You should do that. And while you're at it, don't send PMs to get help, at all. Why would you even do that anyway?

Tim_Rocks 10-19-2012 09:54 PM

My favorite PM's are "warpto me".

so i should try telepathy with staff then?

and i'm not rude lol, i'm always polite when sum1 helps me even on era..staff ignore players way too much you can't really deny that

shrimps 10-20-2012 03:26 AM

I don't know about you, but I never have this problem of being ignored. I sent in a request to have stock limits at PT raised and it was done the next day, no fuss no muss.

The support center exists for a reason. Do you have any idea how impossible it is to work on something while dealing with player issues? Everybody seems to think that it's perfectly reasonable to bombard a developer with PMs and then get pissed when they ignore you because they're in the middle of something else.

Unless something has changed since I've gotten back,
  • Support center for reporting bugs or getting support on complex issues (scams, etc.)
  • Forums or some other channel for reporting feedback. I made a point of getting rid of "suggestions" sections of the support center because those don't fit the format of a support center.
  • PMing PRs for general questions or to report urgent stuff.
  • PMing developers or other staff when critical stuff is happening (and no, I don't consider somebody wall-hacking at unstick to be so important that you need to PM me about it—they'll get bored or a PR will deal with it).

I'm not saying you can't PM staff unless it falls into one of these categories, but it's really annoying trying to work and having 10 PMs waiting for you, half of which are complaints about how staff always ignore players. You can either ignore them and get something done, or spend all your time on stupid issues that won't solve anything in the long run.

Of which I prefer the former. When I'm working on something, every once in a while, I open all PMs and close them again immediately. Works well. Most PMs I get are things not related to me anyway. People complain that I don't do things which I shouldn't even do in the first place. I'm not saying they should know that, but damn, that's what the support center is for.

WillaWonka 10-20-2012 03:57 PM

I think business owners should control prices... so that they can run their competition into the ground with really low prices, then shoot them up to $30 a pack.

bloodykiller 10-20-2012 04:06 PM

the support centre is the least effective way of getting things done
but ok, i'll send in a ticket regarding 5-6 glitches i've found which are very easy to be fixed..i'll let you know how much time it takes
btw i got a hold of jem and he fixed the prices, very effectively

It's the most efficient way to get something done, which is why its model is used by most companies offering text-based support. What's not efficient is PMing staff members, who then have to stop what they're doing to get all the details they need out of you and are then expected to solve it right away.

If it's taking a while to get a response, it's because the glitches are less important than you think they are. There are lots of glitches on Era. It's not necessarily a priority to fix them all, even small ones, when time can be better spent doing other stuff. Go look at the bug tracker of any large (or understaffed) project, and you'll see what I mean.

bloodykiller 10-20-2012 05:31 PM

i've sent a ticket..i'll see how long it takes, judging from my own past experiences tickets have never worked effectively
some of the glitches i pointed out are extremely important, some aren't as important. they're all easy to fix glitches though

Fiberwyre_P2P 10-21-2012 02:57 AM

Most, if not all, of the bugs I've reported or suggestions I've made via tickets have been heard out, and in most cases dealt with, or at the very least replied to.

It's a mystery to me why you have so much trouble with staff.
Maybe you could try lowering your expectations.
It's not feasible to expect staff to reply immediately to you and appease your whining in a timely manner and at your convenience.
Especially when their job doesn't have anything to do with what you're asking.

Klayton 10-21-2012 04:00 AM

TK I believe I told you There's a reason for it though I don't know so I can't tell you. I'm also positive I directed you to talk to Gang and Business.. Regardless if I have level rights or not that's not my job, it's JEM's. I would not appreciate JEM coming in and setting the price on one of my houses and auctioning it as he pleases, so I'm not going to use my level rights to edit his prices to make you happy.

i don't expect stuff to be done right away, but i've been pming staff for over a week to fix 5 simple glitches and not one has been fixed yet

@klay
i asked:
"why are prices different?"
you answered:
"there's a reason but i won't tell you"
i said:
"what's the reason?"
and u said something like
"didn't you fkn read what i wrote?"

let's atleast be polite and honest, it was a bug which took 2 seconds to fix and JEM did it as soon as i got a hold of him. i was pming other staff members since i hadn't seen jem for a while

It's because there is protocol these people will usually stick to and follow, Just as some might help you by humoring you, you should humor them by sending in a ticket, if not multiple to get their attention to get it done, when that has failed, go straight to their manager or highest ranked member that has any relevant control of the situation of problem that you need solved. If somehow that doesn't work, you're going to have to go to PWA personnel and explain the problem in order to get it handled.

This is the way things like this are handled in Graal, pretty much no different then trying to get a problem solved in a retail store.
